A few times yesterday while fishing, the bobber would reach the shore then continue eternally underneath the ground. I had to unequip and re-equip to be able to use my rod again (though, I guess I could have tried moving as well). Not sure the cause, will try to pay closer attention next time / maybe submit an in-game report when it re-occurs. Pretty sure you don’t get the fish, and you lose the durability on the lure.

I believe you do get the fish it just doesn’t show on the text at the top but I have also had this plenty of times in reborn

Had this happen a couple of times too. You do get the fish and just need to swap the rod around in your belt for it to update.
I didnt realise that to begin with so was just intentionally snapping lures to try fix it 
that was a waste
