June 11th Update Story/Outposts/Other Quests Feedback

Hey folks, it’s been over a week since we launched the patch adding a bunch of story quests and trying the concept of rebuilding and things moving as you go through the quest line, so we’d like to hear your feedback on this whole thing.

Here’s a few questions to get you started (you don’t have to answer each of them) but feel free to discuss what you thought in general too!

  • Were the new MSQs in line with what you were hoping for?
  • How much did you enjoy buildings phasing in and being more complete as you were working through it?
  • Is having multiple steps like that (I think the current ones have 3 for each outposts) something important to you?
  • Were the descriptions and objectives clear enough, perfect, or too easy?
  • What did you think of the non-story quest chains we added? (not the hidden one)

We definitely have more quests coming down the line but we certainly want to hear your thoughts about the direction we’re going in. Thanks!

as far as the quest go they seem fine, but some are extremely repetetive

as far as the actual lore goes, its all over the place. all of the problems i listed in Lore discrepancies(BIG BOI SPOILES) are unsolved and made worse
so in all of the early quests it says that the rest of the world is destroyed, but now out of no where with no noticable time gap it goes “oh yeah we said everyone was dead but actually all the other countries are fine and you remember those scavs we said were to be killed because they are insane and beyond hope? they are literally just sick people with some of them being a little bit violent while the rest are friendly”.
then there are smaller things, like how the person with the most power in Highsteppe , the mayor, is deathly afraid of spies from a refugee camp, but is fine with building a settlement for scavs.
or that the miner that we were previously told was mining for guild city is also mining for the mining camp. are we helping guild city?
and then on the topic of guild city, as shown in the raid it is in fact destroyed, so how is that same miner being paid by guild city to mine the crystals, and how are there guards for the citadel if its completely destroyed like what we are told by both wisper and by darius
and why of all times now are we raiding guild city? what changed?
Why are the monsters in guild city? in the last raid we were told who the essasa we were fighting in the necropolar were, but here we have nothing.
why is there a old man in a pot? what is the pot and how does he swing his spear?

overall it seems like a lot of the old lore was ret conned, but the old lore was never actually taken out so now there is 2 conflicting sets of lore.
also idk if anyone else has but no one i have talked to has seen the brother hood quests

There are 2 of them, you get them both from the same person

Spoilers

He’s in Lamavora, near Vulcans Point

  • Were the new MSQs in line with what you were hoping for?

I really enjoyed them a lot ! I expected them to give more xp. Kinda wish they gave as much as normal quests gold 12k. I also feel like the new quests weren’t obvious to new players. Really looking forward to see how the outposts develop !

  • How much did you enjoy buildings phasing in and being more complete as you were working through it?

I loved it! It really felt like you were helping the story progress. Especially enjoyed the weird chicken things by ambassador Thorne. Seemed like there was more building phases by amabassador Thorne than other outposts. Kinda wish there were more npcs just doing slice of life stuff around the other out posts. Feel bad for those dudes digging out the wagon they’ve got a town right there and no help!

  • Is having multiple steps like that (I think the current ones have 3 for each outposts) something important to you?

I like it just wish there were other npcs with quests in town to go along with the msq. A lot of running back and fourth between out posts, wish there were more kill quests along the way or stuff to gather between outposts to make it less of a teleporting back and fourth.

  • Were the descriptions and objectives clear enough, perfect, or too easy?

I felt they were too easy mostly because I have so many Mats should have more kill objectives. Objectives were clear and concise. Would really like to see escort missions again !

  • What did you think of the non-story quest chains we added? (not the hidden one)

Not sure if this is reference to the villager who wants meals, but it seemed kinda bland and again not worth the rewards. LOVED the bhood quest

is in he at the rainforest

I’m done and pretty much enjoyed building the outposts and the quests overall! Very curious how the Lamavora outpost will proceed in further additions, too!

However I am fine with non-phasing quests as well since it always feels a bit odd playing in a different world than others. Like, if I go to repair or sell to a smithy with someone who did not do the chain and he can’t but need wait for me or go somewhere else etc.

The descriptions were mostly clear, I found the quest with the wood a bit hard though since my orientation is zero (thank god I had Atropos map in the end to finish that  ) and also the one to find stuff in HS (geez I ran around and around in circles… I found things but they weren’t grabable, only after several tries so I thought that is not it; finally got help from a guildmate to find all  )

Not sure what are the “non-story” quests - the one for the murder guy? This was cool, but a bit too short hope there’s more coming…

Other than that I had quite some “wow” moments, in Rainforest but also specially with the dock in Hulthines that is a really cool idea and was fun to walk down!! (and makes it also easier to at least fish some fish there - tyvm for that  )

Add more brotherhood quests, to be honest I found the Outpost questline to be pretty dissapointing, I didn’t feel like I was advancing through a questline, I just felt like I was doing a bunch of random quests that had no effect on the story. Honestly I liked the old orbus questline much more, because it was interesting and took longer than 3 hours to beat.

I really enjoyed doing the Outpost building quests. Seeing them grow as I completed the quests felt satisfying. I’d like to see it go further. The lore presented during them is fine. I’m intrigued by what the fella in the Lavamora camp was talking about and insinuated.
