Why do fishing lures have 30 durability, but always take 2 durability per cast?

1 lure = 2 durability / cast
2 lures = 2 durability / cast
3 lures = 2 durability / cast

Why not, say, 15 durability with 1 consumption? Or was there supposed to be something going on here?

Also, an in game option to auto-destroy lures upon breaking would be nice. I get that you may want to keep your lure to see what you used, but usually it’s just more inventory management I’d like to not deal with.

Even just allowing us to trash it from the equipment slot would save time from having to drag it to inventory then to trash.
