I have checked every chest in that room and my effervescent shard got deleted. I am EvantheMan I had it on ah for 32k dram and I can’t cancel it or get the money for it. 
If it is still visible and cancel fails… that has happened to me before. Whatever the item is is always returned to my auction chest when the auction expires.
If it isn’t visible… add something to your auction chest and remove it and you should see “Withdraw Funds” appear at the top of your auction listing pane.
