How are you suppose to tell the size of the fish someone catches; since fish stack and you have no way to of telling the size of the fish aside from as soon as they’re caught from the little message. unless you’re talking about largest amount of fish caught
FYI, this time precludes a large portion of the US player base.
6:00 PM EST
3:00 PM PST
Maybe you should run two (or three) events to cover the major playerbase timezones?
I think they need you to take a screenshot when the fish weight comes up.
its tough to time it for as meny people as possible I did a pole spacificly for this to find the best times and most people said around 22:00 GMT that why the time is what it is. ( I know the time for the event is 23:00 GMT but that’s because the people who I actually talked to about events prefer that sort of timing)
I’m sure you did your due diligence in selecting the optimal time based on available input and data, however the analyst in me feels the need to point out that this poll might be subject to selection bias.
For example, if I’m active on a game during AEST prime time, I’m likely to talk to a lot of people that will confirm that AEST prime time is optimal without sampling from people other timezones or work schedules.
Scheduling for player bases is not an easy task and that is why I suggested splitting up the event into two event times to better cover the prime times and maximize the player community participation while minimizing the number of players feeling left out because of their geographical location.
The downside of this is the additional overhead of tracking event participation to ensure someone didn’t obtain an unfair advantage by participating in a RNG event for twice the duration. I would volunteer to help with such coordination, however I would be unavailable to attend the event at a different time.
Sounds like a great event! Thanks for putting the time in UST - that leaves it really clear and easily googleable for anyone. I have noticed many accents and languages.
Also, you have clearly put a ton of effort into planning this community event and as a relatively new player this is so cool to see. As for multiple times, meh, that makes a fun afternoon event an all-day event for the organizer - keep it one big party and let those of us who can’t make it this time read the post-derby hype! This is a player run fishing derby, not a summit on inclusiveness! We don’t know if you polled during your time only, and only in person, but if you did I assume the bias would result in convenience for you and there’s nothing wrong with that!
Just remember folks, screenshot or it didn’t happen, just like in real life. I have fished that jungle spot and there are some real hogs in those waters!
If the I could host multiple I would. It would be great to do a lot more of these thing, The problem is the whole IRL thing getting in the way and the fact being guild leader I like to stream our events on YT for the people who can’t get there. also when collecting data to the pole I posted it on discord and asked people to vote on it every one had a chance to it is still on the forum here some ware.
Please link the video after the event Sparky!
certainly, ill link the stream here and on the discord.
thanks to every one who joined us it was a lot of fun
