No clue if it’s intended because of the chest, but I randomly turned to bandit for 5mins with no players around whatsoever.
First two times it happened right when I harvested a shroom, the third time when I was attacking a little spider, being pretty close to the area where the chest spawns. Not that it bothers me much, but still very strange.
The area close to the chest gives bandit status if you go there 30 minutes before or after the spawn timer

Ahh ok good to know, I never cared about the chest timer, only pick it up accidentally if at all LOL
