Closed Beta 4 Feedback

As far as I can tell affix drops are just super RNG. It took me a week of farming to get my first one while Logan got 3 different ones and a couple copies in that amount of time.

Does being in a group make a difference? Do we each have a percentage chance to get our own loot or is it shared so only one person gets the loot? It feels at times like the amount of time between your last trash drop effects when you will get your next loot, like if I get loot off some trash in a aberration pull I almost know I won’t get any from the elite that we will down after the trash. I think this could just be perception though and us not understanding how loot fully works. I assume it is everyone has their own chance because I’ve had epics drops for two different people off the same mob once or at least it seemed like that is what happened. Or was that just a really good roll to drop two pieces of loot?

I have a SSD drive. It feels like just the spell is skipping.

I also have a ramdisk and while testing spells they seemed to jerk around while flying and even lagged sometimes for a second before firing.

Is that only something that started with the new effects or has it always been happening?

I’ve had troubles with it for a while. I thought it was normal until I saw a video of Elk casting and he wasn’t experiencing the same spell stuttering as I was. I think it is even more noticeable after the changes.

Right so each person has their own chance to get a drop on the monster. It’s personal loot. However, your chances of getting loot, like XP, can go up based on your overall contribution to defeating the monster. So if you walk by someone killing a monster that is 3/4 dead and you just help a little, your chances of getting loot rolls are not as high as the person who did 3/4 of the work.

When you’re in a party, you get credit for everyone in your party. That way if you’re a Musketeer spending your time healing allies, you’re still getting the same credit as a Runemage doing massive damage to the primary target. Likewise, if you’re a Runemage focusing on just one target, your chances of getting loot on the other targets isn’t lessened,

So I guess I’m just making sure that you all are in a party during the farming process. If you had say 5 people in a party and a 6th person tagging along, they are gong to have way less of a chance to be getting loot because they aren’t getting credit for all the stuff the other party people are doing.

That was the only player clone I saw yesterday.
The Client VFX Draven mentioned, I believe that included Mage spells, musketeer effects, and a number of dead wolves. We were doing a group mob grind next to Wenderwood

Two more things

  • Sir Markos will only talk to you if you wave from a special position… seems bugged
  • I had a bug where my arrows would not conenct with any enemies. I had to relog. I was holding a fishing rod and then switched to bow when that bug happened

Oh wow… and I thought u could also evade regular attacks  Haha, thats fine then. However, I do have a little delay when it comes to red attacks. I have to evade a little earlier then when the attack is done

Another thing. There are those …I am not sure bout the name… either corrupted spirit or haunted spirit near that small village where you can find apples on the ground. There is a guard NPC very near to those and he always kills the spirits… which is really annoying when you actually have to kill those for a quest

The guard kills all of the spirits or in the orchard, or just the spirits closet to the city? The guards are suppose to be protecting the cities to make them semi-safe in case a lower level player ends up in the graveyard, so they will have time to use the Teleportation device to travel home.

Yeah, I understand their purpose, its just that the spirits spawn nearly next to him so he does his duty and kills em. But for me as a player its hard to kill those spirits. Maybe the guard should be standing somewhere else or the spirits should spawn somewhere else. I wasn’t the only person having trouble with this

I use oculus it seems to be an issue when you place the arrow in as without it the bow is free moving and slick. Then you put an arrow in and orientating the controller to the left and right cause the bow to spin mentally and it’s really off putting when trying to aim.

Okay I understand, I was wondering if he is running through the entire apple orchard and killing all the spirits in the orchard, or if he is killing 1 or 2 on the outer edge of the orchard towards where he spawns?

He’s standing on the outer edge, not walking around much. It was still a problem though

Ye those ghosts just spawn in an unfortunate spot near the mountain where the guard will almost always intervene and take the kills. They also make the pilgram quest harder since they are like 2-3 levels higher and are in it’s route.

Since the new spell effects.

Is it the Rainforest Cube that you still cant pick up (I was able to pick it up in game but it was the only had I had gathered). I think Elk was having problems with the Lamavora Cube. If anyone else is stuck on this quest and has started it recently, let me know (yours could be bugged from the changes Ive made while you were already on the quest). The child escort quest has been modified for the next patch, so you don’t actually have to escort the child, but follow him along his path to find the Shadow Leader and defeat the Shadow Leader to complete the quest. And the Aberrations and the Aberration minions that are missing from the game right now will be in before EA or the quests will be altered to reflect this

Had to get creative with the formatting because replies of replies don’t seem to work so well.

Draven: Audio voice issues seem to be on the rise again. A lot of cutting out, happens very often with fellowship chat.
Riley: That’s very strange, since we aren’t doing anything at all that should affect that…is it really happening more often with Fellowship chat, or do you just tend to use Fellowship chat a lot more, do you think?
Draven: I definitely use Fellowship chat more than most, but I’d say it’s pretty consistent that when we try to talk in fellowship chat, even when it’s just a few of us, someone cuts out or doesn’t hear it (to the point we sometimes fall back to yelling the word “discord” over and over so the other members have a chance to hear it and go there to communicate), whereas I spent 2+ hours last night in a group of about 6-10 newer/lower level players wandering around, doing quests, discussing spells and I don’t think I can recall a single “hey, you just cut out, can you repeat that” situation. I have seen it, but it’s pretty rare.

Draven:I am the last person in the world to cry bad RNG, as I realize people often don’t really get how probability works, but I would like to ask if you guys can check on the logic for Epic Weapons (not) dropping for Runemages from Aberrations. Me, Elk and Johann have individually and together killed hundreds (possibly breaking into thousands) of Aberration groups at this point and none of us have seen any, while I’ve seen other classes get 3+ in a single run. I’ve long suspect that runemage reagents drop less often for runemages than other classes, so maybe that is somehow affecting this? I have no idea. And it’s definitely possible we’ve just had really bad luck, but when all the rangers, warriors and musketeers have a pile of affix weapons and all the runemages have zero, I just had to ask.
Riley: There is definitely no logic in the game that differentiates drop rates based on class, that would just be cruel. Just to be sure, you are all in a single party when you are farming them?
Draven: There have been a handful of cases where someone was the odd man out, but it hasn’t consistently been the Runemages, and at this point we are almost always running single groups for aberration farms. I’m guessing it’s just a case of low chance to drop plus insufficient sample size to normalize the distribution, but after seeing so many affixed weapons dropping to those around me, I had to double check. I’ll head back into the RNG mines, and see how it goes.

Draven:Even with the recent changes, I am still finding myself stuck in combat regularly, where after a battle has ended, I can’t cast resurrection until I stuck combat.
Riley: Is there any sort of rhyme or reason to this? As in have you noticed it happening with any particular type of enemy?
Draven:I have not seen any specific mob or situation where it seems more or less common than others, but even over the last few days, it’s fairly common to go to loco-port away from a battle that just completed, realize you are moving slower than you should be, and hit stuck combat to address it.

Draven:Client VFX not cleaning up, this was way better for a long time but it was happening a ton today, for everyone.
Riley: Specifically the Runemage spells? Or something else?
Draven: Was mostly Runemage spells, but I know it happened a few times with Musketeer lifewells too. Last night it was was bad enough that there were a few times we need to relocate from a given area because it was becoming overwhelming.

I’ve also been trying to update my mini bug database thing with fixes and new minor issues (as I don’t want to spam the forums with minor typos and stuff). I went through and did a player-perspective off the cuff priority pass on it, in case that helps too.

Okay I just issued a quick patch and serve reset to attempt to fix the “VFX getting stuck” issues…please let me know if that helps or if you’re still seeing that problem.

Also this is going to sound really weird, but if it happens again, it would be super helpful to know:

  1. If you leave the zone and come back (without closing out your client) are the effects still there?
  2. If someone who wasn’t there for the initial fight comes along, do they see the stuck effects too? Or did you have to be there during the fight to see them?

Thanks!
