I think this would be a great feature to add. It seems that we currently can only add users to our friends list if they are near by. Please feel free to correct me if this is possible but every time I tried I was unable to add anyone to my friends list.

They would have to work on the UI, then blocking people, and account for friend spamming, then making sure you can’t add the same person twice or something.
It is a good idea, but it has been suggested before 
So i guess it is just a matter of waiting.
