It would be great if while out fishing, we could repair a broken lure using the ingredients the lure was crafted with. Since lures don’t stack, and it’s quite tedious moving them back and forth between inventory and chest when you want to go to the wilds, this would be extremely useful. I’d no longer have to carry around many different lures of different types, taking up lots of inventory slots. Just one lure of each type, and a few raw materials.
I delete my broken lures from the inventory when the durability is 0.
Or is there another way to use them?
There is no other way to use them currently, so you have to manually break them down. I’m suggesting an alternative to that, which will also make fishing more convenient.
I would love to be able to repair my lures, but I think that there should be diminishing returns, otherwise players would only need to farm a handful of resources to make them once and never again. Something like:
- 30/30 on creation
- First repair brings durability up to 20/30
- Second repair brings durability up to 10/30
- Destroyed automatically when broken (no third repair allowed)
However, right now repairs only apply to worn items, so the devs would have to do a good amount of work to refactor that interface; who knows, maybe they already plan to re-implement it. In any event, I am not sure how repairing lures would actually work…
I wasn’t saying to allow repairing them at a smith, I was saying basically to allow us to recraft them using the same materials that they were originally crafted with. The only difference between my idea and the current implementation is that we could do it on the go instead of having to keep lots of lures on us, or going back and forth between the player house.
IMO the convenience of Fishing is a non-issue. Basic lure parts are easy to come by, so making plenty of lures before your trip is trivial.
I can see where they are coming from though. I mean in RL fishing you dont pre make all your lures at you house necessarily but if you loose your bait while on the lake your going to fix it there rather than loading up and going back to your house just to get your lure fixed haha now that would be funny.
In a way that’s making RL more convenient than the game. Isn’t it usually suppose to be the other way around?
I think you misunderstand the reasoning of my suggestion, Cowboy. Xatilar gets it. More like you just make the lure piece itself at your player house, but the bait you can add at anytime. My reasoning behind this is because
- lures don’t stack, if you have lots of different lure types it then becomes a pain to figure out which is which. I usually have to organize my lures in inventory, which is tedious. If I only had to have a lure piece, or only one lure of each type, and just carry around some extra bait, it completely negates that.
- because lures don’t stack, it then becomes a pain if I get a wilds request to farm some aberrations/etc. Okay let me go click the lures one by one to move them to my player chest so I don’t risk losing them.
