Artificing - my thoughts so far (spoiler free)

TL;DR Artificing is great

I’m level 20 and at endgame there’s currently only so much content. I decided to give artificing a try.

Artificing is the art of creating tilesets based on your runes (symbols that appear based on your actions) and they increase your damage for a short time.

I grabbed a friend and had him read my runes, and while I only understand 10 of the 38+ runes I was able to make 5 awesome tilesets that proc very very often. Experiencing that success and seeing my damage jump was amazing!

Now I can’t stop theory crafting based off my current knowledge and I’ll be dragging my friend back out to read my runes some more later. It’s cool how many different situations you have to be in to get the most accurate, in depth reading.

Thank you devs for such an amazing and rewarding system!

I really want to get into artificing. I wish I could see my own runes though. As it is, have to have someone record me so I can watch it myself later. That or watch someone that plays my own class and have them do the moves I would to see the runes that appear. Congrats to you for managing to do it from someone else telling you the runes. I would try that, but so many of them are very similar. Like there’s 2 or 3 that look like F’s. How do you possibly say which one they have? Haha

Very descriptively lol. If they have the artificing pages in the journal you can use that “the wonky F 3rd down on the page that starts with the light spell”

Yikes lol. With how fast the runes disappear, you gotta have someone with a good eye and good memory to describe it to you haha.

My thoughts, without spoiling, are:

There is not enough variety in the symbols, currently every class uses the same like 10 symbols.
Currently there only seems to be 1-2 rotations that are usable for each class.
Also it doesn’t seem like every symbol is currently used?

Make critical strikes a symbol to add variety.
Make distance possibly play a role in symbol changes.
Make the current buff a stat boost so musketeers benefit when healing.

Possibly make the buff last longer but do less.
For example, 5% increased stats for 10,13,15 seconds.
Currently you have it like 10% for 3,4,5 seconds.
This would allow people to fit in their other symbol combo’s because instead people are doing the same combo to keep that 5 seconds up constantly. You could also not limit the 3 buffs with this method so players have a reason to actively change up their playstyle during combat.

You also do this with the speed potion.
It would be better if it was like 10% more speed over 5 minutes.
Currently you have it like 200% speed for 10 seconds. (From what I’ve last seen in the beta)

The thing that you cant see your own symbols makes this a one more frustrating thing in this game for solo players, and when those things add up the game will loose people becouse theres not enoth content to play around, and its kinda stupid to make something like this. Its like locking something behind the doors and letting in only in pairs. Game needs to haw alot of content to make exclusive thing like that.

stop being a solo player for at least 10min, problem solved

I really like the idea of Artificers as craftsmen who are soughtout for their craft. People who become skilled at reading runes quickly and efficiently and can custom craft the truly best tile sets for people.

It reminds me a lot of blacksmiths who build custom armor for people. You need someone else to make your armor as they have to constantly fit plates to you and shape them correctly. Sure you can do it yourself but it is likely going to fit poorly and be uncomfortable.

Im playing in the time when theres low populiation in the game, so your salty rambling wont work here, maibe you should start looking from other peoples point of view and stop being so angry ?

At some point though, you will probably have to accept its an MMO and not a solo rpg. I don’t think the way the system is built is “kinda stupid”, I think it adds a cool aspect to the game. Maybe you should listen to your own advice.

Im always plying in a group when there is one, and I like playing in agroup but most of the players are from US and the time diference in 8h for me, so I cant start playing in 2AM just to get a group, why most founders in here are so arogant and cant see that this game doesnt haw end game contant, and in MMO if you want to haw populiation in game, you need content for ewerybody, othervise the game will die out, like ewery other MMO did, and I played a lot of them, and still untill now theres no better mmo then L2 C4 ( where we had castle sieges 300 vs 300, and where you had to fight agents other clans for the raids in 100 vs 100 battles ) and WoW ( raiding, specialy in expansion Litchking ) thats called MMO, but right now Orbus is more like instance rpg, and when some of us are playing in time zones where the populiation of players are so low then after you get a lvl20 and all the gear then you haw nothing to do.

Because we actually pay attention to what the developers say and we know what’s coming, and what the current situation is in regards to the whole picture.

Latter can be to late in mmo, let hope devs will fix the milion bugs in the game and release some endgame, that isnt just based on mindless grind, cuz theres hundreds of mmos that did the same thing, and died after 2 months after the great expansion was released. Promises are always just promises until they are fulfilled as promised.

all of the promises that the devs have made are true. In less then a weak we are getting a new dungeon, with a new world boss. After that shard dungeons, and there is always the classic pvp that is already in the game. Sorry, but of course these all require other people to play as well. What is another type of mmo endgame that doesn’t need at least 1 other person to participate in?
As far as it being to difficult finding a group, i know many people who are from outside the US, there is a whole guild of 30+ who are arn’t from america.
Artificing is not supposed to be a crafting discipline you can just pick up and bam there is your stat boosting tile sets, its supposed to take a bit of effort and coordination with other people, as most endgame mmos are supposed to be.
Overall, this game is EA, and more things are being added. this issnt a mmo 10 years in the making with 100+ devs, there are 2 devs, and orbus has been being made for 1 year, and the steps it has taking during that year fill me with a certainty that the game will continue to grow

Im talking about not locking gameplay behind somthing and being accessible for all players becouse this game doesnt haw enough content to do that, im not saying that its bad or good, im saying that you need to haw content to do things like that. Cuz when you haw a spare time and want to play something you will go to your favourite game, and if theres nothing to do in that game, you will find a different one.

In any great mmo the party/solo gameplay is +/- equally distributed that keeps people interested and thats where the money is, cuz you need income for mmo to exist, and for that you need people, I dont want for Orbus to like other mmos that made theyr money in the first releases and just said fk it we got our paycheck and now lets see how long we can stretch it out with few updates. This game has a realy big potential, but only that wont get you anywhere without making it a reality.
