If I’m moving with slide, using the vive controllers and head aim as movement direction, and at the same time pull my wand or bow, it tends to glitch and makes me continue to constantly run until I un-equipt my wand or bow again.
I was unable to recreate this issue using sliding locomotion (with head gaze) with the bow, musket or sword. I think what may be happening is that you are unintentionally activating the auto-run feature when trying to unsheathe your weapons. To activate auto-run you simply hit the grip button while you are sliding and release the trackpad. I couldn’t get auto-run to activate when unsheathing my weapons. Is it possible you’re hitting the grip button an extra time during the process? If not would you be able to provide a video of what is happening?
The wand is a known issue that we are tracking in our system. What happens with the wand is that if you’re using the same controller to slide as you are to unsheathe your wand it deactivates that trackpad when you equip the wand and causes the movement to act up.
Hope this helps and thanks for reporting!
Yah, seems to be the autorun for the bow! That was a new feature for me! Tx.
Hope you can fix the wand issue, I’m finding myself running to my death, wand held high and unusable
I think what is happening is that you are moving then you pull your wand/bow out. Then the event handler for moving on that hand is replaced with the appropriate one for the weapon. Then when you put your weapon away the event handler is re-enabled for movement. Probably OnDown(Event e) or something related.
Is there a way to turn this feature off? It doesn’t even seem to fully work for me when I try to let it autorun me. It stops after a few seconds, and in other cases it turns on for those few seconds in dungeons unintentionally.
I don’t believe there is a way to disable auto-run at the moment. One thing to keep in mind when using it is that touching the trackpad will disengage auto-run so that may be part of the issue with it stopping. It should also only engage when you hit the grip button while not holding over anything else that uses the grip button (grabbing a tool, a weapon, an ability item, etc.)
Oculus Touch controllers, initiate it and it just stops regardless of touching buttons.
Yeah, it only seems to happen when I’m moving forward and trying to grab something from my chest, like the pickaxe or health pot
I’ve continue have the problem where i automatically start moving even though im not pressing something. I’m using vive slide motion.
Happens to me when I grab an arrow from my belt and im moving forward, it’s gotten me killed many times. I use oculus rift.
I also haven’t been able to get the auto run feature to even work right. It usually stops itself very fast.
Yeah I’m really just hoping we see and option to disable it entirely.
I was also running into this a bit today. Is there a way to implement it such that auto run only activates if it’s on the same controller that is being used for navigation? For example I found it activating when I grab or put away an arrow with my right hand but I use me left hand for navigation. If it’s only on the same controller it may cut down on accidental activation.
