I’ve logged 5 hours so far, according to Steam, and I’m loving this game! I’ve only had minor issues (which I’ll be addressing next in the Bugs and Technical Issues category), and no real gripes! I do have a suggestion, though.
In the vast selection of MMORPG’s, there are very few that implement a system where one character can freely switch between and train in all classes. This game has it, and for that I applaud the dev’s! Before I bought my Vive, my main MMORPG was Final Fantasy 14, another of the small handful that contain this class change system. It works in a very similar way, too! Simply equip a different weapon, and you become that weapon’s class. The main difference that I notice, is that when you do so in OrbusVR, you become naked as far as stats are concerned.
For example, if I’m playing as a Ranger, with all Ranger gear equipped, then decide that I’d like the play Musketeer for a while, as soon as I switch to the Musket, the Ranger gear visually dequips down to plainclothes, and none of the armor rating is carried over. Even though it’s all still equipped! Which means that after I change weapons, I still have to change out each piece of gear in my loadout so I’m not left entirely vulnerable.
The way FF14 handles this, is to bind the loadout to the weapon itself. When a weapon is changed, the game automatically equips whatever gear you saved to that loadout. I think that would be a great feature to have in OrbusVR! I also realize, I may be part of a small group that switches classes with any sort of frequency. Maybe I’m just a bit spoiled by the mechanics from another game! Haha.
I’m just wondering if this would be possible to implement in OrbusVR. Or maybe the dev’s already have something like this in the works? Especially as the game grows and more gear is added, or more classes become available! Let me know what y’all think!
