Hey,
So I am writing because I enjoy dragon racing and I really like the transmogs available for them, however the missions themselves are absolutely brutal. Even if someone spends quite a bit of time and energy on a single track they may not even get bronze (and I do try some crazy shortcuts). I wish the missions were a bit easier to complete to stay in line with all the other factions and so it wont kill my joy for the racing tracks.
Something I think was not really made clear is that you can skip rings (up to about 7s of no rings) and that gold rings drop 5s time. The only way to get a good rank is to skip rings on almost all races.
Edit: if you’re already doing this and still not getting a good rank, chances are that you’re not using the best shortcut or you’re running one of the 2-3 races that have a second mission (higher level) requiring much better time.
I would appreciate distinguishing between leisurely dragon flying (stretch wings, take for walk, explore type of vibe) and hardcore dragon racing (pushing for best time, competitive sport feeling, glory with accomplishments)
I think the problem is that they checked the times players had in the beta and used those for the race rewards.
Now we diddent have much to do in the beta and did our best to break the race… if your not verry inventive some times are verry hard to beat.
I think the missions and their reward times were in the betas already, right?
Yeah they tweaked it after the beta. But assuming that was based on our times I find a far stretched one. Mostly because like half the races were 10 seconds on the clock cheats XD
I’ve done the racing missions for highsteppe, rainforest, and wastelands, and while some of them were definitely tough to get, the only one I haven’t been able to get gold on (or even get close) is getting 50 seconds on second chance in the highsteppe shop. It’s a relatively simple race and I’ve done a lot of trial and error on paths to take, but can’t even get below 53 seconds. Anyone got tips for this one?
You getting the gold ring under the plank? That mostly makes from the 53-56 second races 48-50 second races for me.
I had tried getting it at one point but it seemed like it would lock you out of getting the one right above it so it would be pointless. I guess I didn’t try too much to get both of them, so that must be the difference. Will try tonight, thanks!
try getting the bottom ring from left to right, the box above it faces to the right for the gold ring immediately after, so you want to make it the smallest distance between the rings
That helped, thanks! Was able to get on the leaderboard too. However, i still wasn’t able to get the gold timer for this mission, which is 48 seconds (50 seconds was actually just for silver). Based on the leaderboard, only 4 people have managed to hit this time, so the requirements for this mission in particular should probably be lowered. This is the level 19 second chance mission.
So i beat the rache below 0:47 at 0:46996
This with no brakes and just pray for rng
yet still silver!
FIX THIS!!!
Ive been fighting myself to ask for this also lol! Dragons are one of my fav parts of this game. I love breeding them and trading them and seeing them but I HATE racing them. I suck at it. And all of the cute dragon things are stuck in the racing missions that I suck at. Ive just been oh well get good about it but its nice to see that im not the only person who thinks its too hard lol.
We’ll take a look at the two races here mentioned in particular. Are there others that are completely impossible?
None of them are “completely impossible” since i have done all of them with gold, however i agree that some missions need to have an easier time requirement. They shouldn’t be based off the leaderboard and have only 3-10 people able to complete them.
i can only get 1:15 and still dont get beonze or silver please fix
Yeah, we are looking at tuning the time requirement. Also noticed that some of the time requirements for rewards went down to the fraction of a second. But the tooltip telling you the time to beat only showed seconds, so it would round up. For example, one race tells you that to get gold you must beat a time of 01:09 (69 seconds), but you actually needed to get a time of 01:08.500 (68.5 seconds).
That tooltip error is at least fixed for Monday’s release. We need to find time to tune the times needed for some races, but at the moment, I’m not confident to say that will make it for Monday’s release.
I have a list of the ones I turned in with Silver/Bronze:
- Second Chance: Got the first ring below the wood, but only by slowing down greatly, plus all others, still too slow for Silver, turned in Bronze
- Racing Ruins: Supposed to be cheesed, skipped half the race after the barrel, but still at Silver
- Sky High: Broken. LAST yellow ring (between the rocks) was never counting for me, not even by flying right through it, turned in with Silver
- Water Slide: Turned in with Silver; only Top 5 advanced to Gold, so whatever.
One is left in my log I can not do at all:
- Swamp Smash: FAIL. Can’t do the second tunnel at the very end, it is too steep for me no matter how slow I go; and it’s exhausting to practice it since everything else needs be done first.
In general, as Shiki noted, races which can barely be done by top 10 in time OR obviously need to be cheesed in a non-intended way (Racing Ruins, and I think Broken Halls) for Gold I do find to hard.
I don’t have too much trouble with the tunnel, gotta start up a lil higher than you think and start going down before you reach the curve
It was annoying the first time i done the course, but isnt hard to overcome that
It is wonderful that the game is a flawlessly running piece of cake for ya - judgin from other posts - congrats… but obviously it IS hard to overcome, for me, and it might even be related to different setups. Or I am just stupid since you got it 2nd try and I took 40+ (counted all Betas) to no avail, grats again for that.
Either way, I did not post this to argue or hear how great others do (scroll up, some got Gold on all) but in response to a dev-question, this quest is stuck - for me - and if nothing gets changed there should be at least a way to cancel quests.
