With how the current system works, i’ve seen some people staying afk on top of their dragons so they can always use the bonus without bothering of buying pet treats.
A couple suggestions to make it fair for everyone:
Greatly reduce the happiness gain from petting/feeding the dragon, but also totally remove the decrease (so you would need to go all the way from depressed to gleeful which can take some time, but then you’re fine and it will stay gleeful forever)
Having the pet gain happiness when it’s equipped rather than decrease it, and decrease it when it’s not equipped (it also doesn’t make sense that your pet is sad if you keep him with you)
Greatly increase the amount of happiness gained by petting the dragon (having to pet your dragon only 2-3 times per level is easy enough to do it without being afk)
Put an anti-afk system that kicks you after 10 mins of inactivity (inactivity = headset doesn’t move, otherwise petting the dragon will be seen as a valid activity and won’t solve the problem)
Add a toy that provides the same happiness amount of petting, and remove the increase from petting the dragon.
I know a few people that sleep in OrbusVR, That would also be good to implement to help stop people from “Play time boosting” Which overall is not a healthy thing to do for your Headset&You!
When positioned right sleeping people pet our dragons, at the cost of their controller battery life, not ours! Mwhahah!
But back on topic, I have been quite disappointed about the speed which the dragons happiness goes down, petting it doesn’t seem to do much and having your dragon with you just drains it down to depressed while you’re out and about even if you’re not using it’s bonus. Shiki has made some really good points
I’d also love if the haptics on petting were reduced by 1/3 to 1/2. I like having the haptics, just would prefer them not wasting as much battery from petting my pet of a few hours.
What I was saying was more of a joke because 2 members of our fellowship are often a sleep at highstepp and I try to get my Dragon under their hand to wake them up, I think the haptic feedback is fine tbh
