There have been a few topics on travel speed and movement but I have a idea that comes in two parts. First, the good news.
I wouldn’t mind a haste spell(s).
Yes, I know the airship does the thing. I am also very well aware of portals (I’ll get back to this). Rumor has it there’s even a potion, though I’ve never seen it. But! As all of us tabletop players can attest, a good haste spell is always useful. Whether it be get around in a fight faster or saved for a less than heroic expeditious retreat. Useful.
What would this mean in game?
2x movement speed for both types. Tele gets max range/stamina for the duration.
Used in/out of combat it instantly regens skills and ammo
That being said, there should be a 1 and 2. A single target and a small aoe version. Yay new runes!
“But, silent”, you say, “why haste when you can portal? It’s not that tough!”
To you I say, correct! However, this brings me to my bad news.
Reagents are too common. There. I said it. You can spend 25min farming in the right place and get 1 or 2 every minute or so. These things should be like unicorns. This would actually make portals a rare and meaningful event. Same goes for revives. This is practically godlike power for a handful Skittles at the moment. This would make haste spells and potions more useful and portals seem like gifts from the gods.
tldr; reagents too common, makes portals cheap. Haste spells/potions to pick up the slack.
thank you for mentioning the regeant thing i made a thread mentioning how easy regeants are to farm and a couple people like to think i killed the mage class lol
To be fair I thought farming them would be much harder but 20+ drops in 25 minutes for that power is unbalanced. 1 drop in ~200 kills seems more realistic.
Beginners gotta begin. Now you’re maxed out and have amassed a small fortune in reagents. Enjoy your fast travel. Beginners don’t need the ability to teleport willy nilly. They need to beat feet and learn the world. Travelling is butts at the moment, agreed, but that’s where the haste spells come in. It’s not instant travel but it sure beats plodding along at non-magical speed. The spell should obviously be shorter in duration than the potion, of which I hear is insanely short for the cost. That will need a change too.
That’s why I mentioned the potion needs to be improved quite a bit. The haste spells can function as the potion does now in combat. Outside of combat it can function as a 2x speed boost for x amount of time.
Only sometimes are the reagents plentiful. I spent 2 hours farming the other night, and walked away with 8 reagents. Compare that to a couple weeks before, where I had farmed for ~30 minutes, and already had 5. This is with dual luck rings btw. RNGsus is a cruel mistress. I don’t think a spell would be completely out of order, as porting locations still require a bit of walking to most places. The potion doesn’t last long enough for it to be worth the trouble making it. I think there just needs to be a buff to speed in general, maybe a “Ring of Swiftness” that will boost speed by x% in and out of combat. Then we just need to patiently wait for whatever mount type system they have in the works.
