HTC Vive flashing and still gray screen/complete loss of tracking - resolved

This is an HTC Vive problem, and I’m almost 100% sure that it’s completely unrelated to the game. As a side note my vive isn’t even a year old.

All of a sudden a few days ago, on Sunday, May 6th, 2018 it started acting up. I kept getting gray screens while playing. At first, it was flashing every so often; then it started to stay gray for quite a while and eventually went away. At first, I only wondered what the issue, but now I’m genuinely worried if my headset is completely broken or sensors.

Monday, May 7, 2018, I tried for several hours to do something about this problem, and nothing worked. It was even worse for some reason, the headset never even started tracking the whole time it just said: “connected but not tracking.” I would like to know if this problem has a clear solution.

Yesterday, Tuesday, May 8, 2018, I was able to play but a very little bit and I needed to be still because looking too much to the right/left would cause a grey screen. I still can’t find whether it’s the headset or the lighthouses. I will troubleshoot some more today. If any of you know this about this problem please help it’s been too long from Orbus. Thank you in advance I’ll look forward to seeing if there are any solutions for this problem or if any of you have heard of this before.

Hey, do you have any mirrors in your room? Those can really screw up tracking. Another thing that I usually do is try to cool off the headset, but I’m not sure how much heat has to do with it. Just an observation that whenever that happens to me my headset is burning up

How do you cool off your headset? And yeah but I cover the TV and the paintings I leave up because they never caused a problem as far as my knowledge goes I’ll probably try to unmount to test thank you though

To cool it off i just rub my hand or forearm along the front of it. It cools down with moderate success, but takes you out of the battle for a couple seconds

I managed to find the culprit to my problem and it was my router. It seemed to have been in the view of a sensor which might of messed it up and completely broke my tracking. So if anyone else has this issue there are many things that could be the problem but if you think your router is the problem and could be bothering the lighthouses do that first. Thanks for the help here and on the reddit post
