Make World Boss Capes Quest Rewards

First off I’d like to say this game is awesome and I love how much the community has grown. Sometimes in this community a few players will get together to go and kill a world boss a few times. The capes for these world bosses look amazing and why would someone want to show off that they killed a world boss.

My proposal is that capes for the world bosses be turned into quest rewards because a player can group up and just this boss over and over again and just have really bad luck and may have grinded those world bosses for at least 25 hours and has only gotten 1 cape for one of the bosses(not me but a friend). Then you have the case in which your grinding for epics and finally after a few hours you finally get a purple drop and it turns out to be a cape. much disappointment and sadness haha this of course would already be changing due to the dungeon coming out since that will be a better way to get epics anyways.

Whether this changes or not I still love the game and will still play happily either way. This is just a suggestion.

It may work better if it was like the supper leveler cape where its achievement locked. for example kill the world boss 5 times and it drops along with an achievement.

That leads to classic MMORPG questions:
Is an item special and prestigious if everyone can attain it easily? Is an item only special if it’s exclusive?

If a world boss cape can be had by anyone on their first kill of a world boss via quest reward, is it special anymore?
Or via 10 kills and an achievement?

Does a 1% drop rate make a item special, or frustrating?

I don’t have the answers and my own opinions vary by situation (and good grief I’ve farmed for YEARS for mounts in WoW before getting them so I definitely have opinions about RNG!) – just tossing out the questions as food for thought to counter potential replies of “I want this thing and I don’t want to work hard or against RNG for it”.

I’m just wondering what the capes are suppose to stand for. I always thought they were to show off our achievements. Are they to show that we defeated the boss or managed to get lucky enough to get a cape to drop within the first 20 hours of grinding it? I already have my cape from Elongata and haven’t went against Sanyael nearly enough to get a cape yet.

To me I always thought of the capes as an achievement - you beat the world boss. So it seems odd that it’s so rare of a drop, and that you can get multiple of them (that I actually don’t know, I assume you can get multiple?).

Rumor is after the Tradua Mines open the world bosses will only drop capes and rings instead of the current blue/epic loot

This is no longer a rumor.

I think cape drops should stay as is. If it’s not rare then everyone will have it. If they decide to increase drop rates or make it a quest item they should add another drop that is rarer so there is still something you can get to show off.

I like the idea of a pet drop, a miniature version of the boss. These should be extremely rare. 1/250-500

Maybe different versions of capes to encourage people to try the boss to get rewarded but better looking capes for those who got it as a drop.

It’d be cool if there was a soloable boss of some sort with a very rare drop so solo players could grind out a cool drop.

Yes we will be adding in some additional rarer drops that are cosmetic-related once we get that up and running for sure. The capes are supposed to show ‘I was able to defeat the boss’, not “I was able to defeat the boss and the RNG system,” so they’re probably not working as intended right now which is why we are making that change.

But I agree that there should be some drops that are just really rare you might have to kill a boss 100 times and slay the RNG monster as well to get.
