Motion sickness

I’m new here and having so much fun exploring. That is, until I start to get motion sickness. Does anyone have settings suggestions that would help this? I have an Oculus Rift if that matters.

If you’re new to VR, take frequent breaks. Limit playtime until VR sickness stops happening. If you Google around, you can find plenty of general tips like this, as VR sickness is common when first starting.

Orbus specifically, set the graphics to the lowest settings to improve framerate. Also, try different locomotion options and see what feels best.

I’m experiencing the same. Teleporting helps a bit. It’s worst for me when going up and down ramps.

Try playing sitting down your first 1-2 weeks and then slowly add standing.

Also alcohol will help, or dramamine.

I get motion sickness pretty easily. This is what helped me when I first started playing.
Teleport dont slide.
What kind of turning are you using? Snap turn works better for me then smooth turn.
For the love of God dont dragon race lol.
Be sure that you are not dropping frames and that your headset is fitting correctly.
Dont “push through it”. If you are feeling sick take a break and come back.
It gets better. You are going to get your VR legs
Welcome to Orbus Vr. Glad you are here.

Personally I only have ever gotten headaches. And while wearing a 5-10 pound device on your head a headache can be amplified. My number 1 tip is be young, I personally believe I don’t have that problem cause I’m 15.

I used to have this problem as well. I always had to teleport. But in just a couple of days, I’ve gotten my sea legs for Orbus sliding on Quest. The stairs still make me a little sick, so I still teleport on those. Otherwise, play standing up, steer by turning with your feet instead of just turning your head, and quit early when you start feeling sick.

from someone who gets super sick in VR-

  1. Always teleport, if you need to slide (some mechanics), close your eyes while doing so
  2. Use snap turn instead of smooth turn
  3. Don’t play for super long periods of time
  4. Keep a fan blowing at your head. the cool air helps a lot
  5. Don’t do dragon racing
  6. Make sure your IPD is adjusted properly (it matters if yours isn’t average)
  7. Make sure your mask is properly positioned on your face
  8. Don’t play any space sims (real shame, I know)
  9. Take breaks if you start feeling sick (drink cold water slowly, don’t lie down)
  10. A little alcohol goes a long way

I brute forced my motion sickness away with Dramamine for about a week. Now I’m pretty much immune to the motion sickness.

while this might have worked for @akio_f, don’t do that, it can make it worse, you should always take breaks whenever you get sick
