We have just released our annual Winter update with the re-addition of an old fan favorite.
Patch Notes:
Added Winter Festival of Strangers quests and rewards
Updated terrain and props for seasonal Winter theme
Added Winter Festival cape and achiemevent
Added Winter Festival windup snowman pet
Added “Pre-Born” Runemage trainer outside the gates of Highsteppe (Player House side)
There is only one for now but we wanted to see how popular it was and make iterations based on feedback
This mechanic works the same way it did in the old game:
Cast any level fireball and hit the pillar to activate.
Only the caster can interact with it once activated until finished
Earn a score based on your performance

I’m begging you, PLEASE put this on the Steam and Meta updates pages. Currently it looks like the game has been abandoned because there’s been no dev interaction there for years.

The ray based spell are bugged and almost impossible to hit anything if you’ve adjusted the position of your wand, so when getting arcane ray on the mage trainers you just get stuck not being able to hit the dummies.
I love that the snowmen are pink (crime scene jokes aside) but on my Tabsabout account Cenn doesn’t have a critter capture quest for them to give me. Greymalkin can pick it up though.
I see some people have finished the critter capture for the pink snowman pet. I have tried both my older characters HandyGadget and Nicodemus but Pierre has no festival quest for either .
Yeah, Tabsabout still can’t pick it up either. I don’t think jakee got the chance to launch the fix. He usually confirms when the change actually goes out.
Yes he is probably enjoying the Christmas and new year holiday. I am sure it will be looked at. I do intend to try PCVR to see if that is different. Using Virtual Desktop and the Rift version made no difference.
Apparently folks can’t complete the lights quest either (if they didn’t do it last year). If you did it last year, she lets you turn it in without having to go find the lights but if this is your first time, the lights don’t count down for you and even if you find them all you can’t turn it in.
Also I was wrong, I didn’t pick up the snowman quest on Greymalkin, I picked up the bezurple quest that just happened to still be available.
Had to undo my wand position just so I could break my preborn PB of ~21,900. Even with default wand position, on index at least, the damaging part of the ray is not where the visual is. The duration of the spell also seems much shorter than I remember it having ever been.
