Performance HTC vive

Hi. Love the game thanks so much for making this. I just wanted to note that I think there might be something going on in graphical performance, based on my experience of my hardware and comparing to other vr games and I wondered if this was something anyone knew anything about. Even with 1.0 supersampling I cannot use ultra or even high settings without lots of reprojection and I am using top spec equipment that works very well for other titles. I wondered whether there was an HTC vive specific issue? I am using 7700k cpu with 1080ti gpu and 16gb ram 3000speed. I have lots of experience getting the best out of vr games using different settings and I’ve come to the conclusion that there is something not quite right with orbus running through steam vr beta and non beta. Can anyone suggest anything to try reconfig files or anything? Is this a known issue??
Thanks

I have a vive too and I only have a gtx 1060 using a laptop on wifi (also using tpcast wireless) and all vr games run smooth for me especially Orbus on ultra. Here is my reprojection settings…

also turn off vive port launch at startup if you haven’t, turn off Bluetooth. I used to have my super sampling at 1.2 but the new steam vr update I cannot select the SS I only have a check box for “manual override for application resolution” and a check box for “enable advanced supersample filter”

but there my be something else you can do … if you are on a laptop this is especially needed but a destop will require some of this too to help performance:

Change your computer’s performance settings to gaming or custom and remove all restrictions regarding powersaving modes and sleep timers. You will need to change all screen saver, sleep mode powersaver settings and save it as a “high performance” mode. There are youtube vids explaining this. and if you are on a laptop you will need to have two settings, one for plugged in and one for unplugged. A laptop will die in like 45 mins running VR unplugged fyi.

Once I changed these settings I could play nearly any game on highest settings and some games I could play with 1.5 SS but I found that 1.2 ran smoother. Hope this helps.

I noticed if I use advance supersample my performance goes down an insane amount and I miss a lot of frames.
I can use normal 1.2 supersample and ultra settings on a 980 without frame loss, using htc vive.
But I normaly play with 2.0 supersample and low settings (but to be honest I don’t even notice a difference with supersample in this game so I might just turn it to 1 and go with ultra)

to piggy back on this… how with the new update do you manually select the super sampling? I remember doing it but I cant figure it out. I no longer have the SS bar, just a check box for “enable advanced SS”. thx

try to prioritize the CPU when playing orbus, at least for me it helped
