Piqued, not peaked

For Whisper’s Words II, Whisper mentions you have “peaked” her interest. The phrase should be piqued, as in stimulated. After all, she’ll probably have more interest in us later.

It is technically correct but peaked works just fine and I would have to think that a few people would think piqued would be an incorrect spelling of peaked. This is a low priority and should be ignored by devs. There are many other things even in suggestions with much more priority.

That’s a weirdly adversarial response to something so innocuous. The devs can ignore my post if they want to, but I doubt they’ll be taking your advice for it. Besides, nothing wrong with some players learning a new word, right?

I don’t mind a change like this or anything. It is just not a priority and should be ignored at least until the devs sort out more important things. I should have said, “Ignored by devs until they fix many of the problems the game has.”

For instance this is something that is being fixed but imagine if it was not, not gaining 8% crit damage when the gear you have all say +2% is aggravating and annoying. A simple word change is so far down on the list of priority that the devs should ignore it for now while they fix and look at something more important.

A word change is “cool” i guess but adds nothing to the value of the game currently and is a useless change. Maybe after a couple years when there are fewer bugs and such this could be implemented. It is a simple 1 minute change that could be spent fixing any number of bugs.

Alternatively, depending on how they lay out their dev team and handle issues like this, the text might just be a line that one of the non-programming devs can address, while Riley or others address the issues with gear not working properly…

I don’t remember the exact wording but if Whisper meant that her interest had reached the height of what her interest can reach, it is peaked. If she is saying that the player is causing some excitement from her interest, it’s piqued. Piqued is also the more common phrase. Furthermore, while I don’t disagree that some matters may be more pressing, I don’t think any player is wrong for pointing out any errors/issues they see in the game at all. It isn’t our job to prioritize for the dev team, only to let them know what we see.

Thanks Mal, the phrase is used just after you turn in her(?) first lore quest, so I’m fairly certain piqued is the correct choice there. Maybe they can give this one to an intern for training.

I’d captured an image of the dialog to report it myself, so here’s the word in context:

Definitely piqued, then.

You are right Whisper has plans for you in the future, so I changed it but won’t be fixed until after the next patch though, but thanks for the catch. Let me know if you find any others.

Would you prefer separate threads for each, or just respond in this thread? I have a few others that I’ve taken screenshots of. I hadn’t posted them since it’s kinda low priority and there was some discussion of starting a massive typo scavenger hunt thread. :slightly_smiling_face:

how about Ill start a new thread and we can just post them all in there. Thanks.
