The game supports both Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, so you can pick the headset you want to buy or can afford! Your system specs meet the requirements too. So all you need to do is buy a headset with the appropriate controllers and the sensors/lighthouses (these are all bundled with the headset).

If you need to do research on what headset + bundle, you should start in the Rift and Vive subreddits where there are a bunch of comparison threads on what people prefer.

For example, if you wear glasses, the Vive fits better for most people’s glasses. If you want controllers that aren’t wand shaped and has a trackpad issue, Rift has those. If you want better tracking, Vive is your best bet. If you want a larger sweet spot on the headset, Oculus has an advantage there. The Vive is heavier and front weighted vs Rift which is more balanced and lighter. Vive also is best with a optional accessory DAS (Deluxe Audio Strap) that costs $100 and basically you do want this with your Vive since it makes it a lot better. Rift doesn’t need this as its built into the headset.

I really recommend you go into a Microsoft store to try a Vive out. And Best Buy retailer to try a Rift out, before making any purchases.

That’s a good advise and also to read threads which are not so game-specific. I am pretty disappointed of my Oculus, one headphone broke couple months after buying it (which seems be a common problem… people sent their sets in which I was too lazy for though, just using normal headphones instead) and the tracking poses constant issues which are not related to my system.
For Orbus I also turned off the guardian system because else it is triggered all the time when playing the ranger or warrior.

And another thing in case you get an Oculus, you can buy games on the oculus store and on steam, yet on steam there are way more addons which are a help for Orbus (like a push to talk and display of what happens in discord) which might be forthcoming to non-steam users too, one day, but currently are lacking.
Also the last beta was released to steam-users, first.
So overall if I could decide again I’d buy the Vive and play Orbus via steam.

I use a vive and love it. I have tried psvr and oculus too. I chose vive bc at the time vive offered a larger playspace, better tracking and it all came in one box ready to play, albeit at a higher price. Now each kit (oculus, vive) come ready to plug and play without additional hardware needed. Vive costs less now, but more than an oculus still. But from my understanding vive users can play all oculus games via ‘‘revive’’ but oculus is bound to oculus games. (Someone will correct me if I’m wrong)

It really comes down to what feels right to you when using the different systems, mainly the controllers. My friend says oculus has better controllers, vive has better tracking. I actually don’t like the oculus controllers but that’s my preference… mainly bc in other games I put the vive controller ring to use ill post a pic of what I mean.

Give each a shot and then decide, either way you’ll get to play this game.

Also vive has the tracker pucks and some games use these pucks for additional tracking capabilities.

Okay, here comes the correction, Oculus users can play games through steam too :stuck_out_tongue:

Also I have to agree, the tracking of Vive is better, but the controllers are relatively heavy and big, so I prefer the Oculus ones

You can get pretty good tracking with Oculus and a almost similar large play space buy buying a 3rd sensor. both me and my son have 10x10 foot play spaces in the same room with a couple feet of overlap with our 2 oculus setups both with 3 sensors (3 high ceiling mounts) I’ve had no issues what so ever with tracking all the way to the floor. Ive also seen somewhere that while the laser tracking was assumed to be superior on the Vive that data from one of the table tennis games has proven that oculus had slight better tracking speed. But i think it was like splitting hairs. what both Vive and Oculus have is way better tracking than PSVR (which i own as well) and the inside out tracking on the various Windows MR headsets… (I own a Lenova and Samsung). You can play Orbus with a Windows MR headset… i’ve got 2 sons that have tried it… but your best experience is going to be on the Vive or Oculus. Either 1. I do not own a Vive but 1 thing that stands out as a huge bonus to the VIve is the fact that the Laser based trackers just need to be plugged into power… and not run back to your PC via USB 3.0/2.0 and that you don’t need to worry about whether you have enough 3.0 USB ports. Just about everyone with 3 sensors… me included had to buy aftermarket USB cards which adds to the price. I have to say I absolutely love the controllers on the Oculus they just feel amazing and both me and my son have smacked them on walls, ceilings, desks and (monitors) they hold up pretty well. The Windows MR headset controllers feel like utter garbage… cheap pieces of junk. Sorry if you own 1 just calling it out… i own 2 and calling a dog a dog.

Thank you all for all the info am gonna be getting a vive for my B day next week. I wanted to ask does the vive also need more sensors that I need to buy? Or just stay with the 2 it comes with?

Hi Raymond! Vive is a great choice.

If you bought the bundle that includes 2 Lighthouse sensors and the 2 Vive Wand controllers, then you only need those 2 sensors. There are guides and videos on how to best setup or troubleshoot any sensor issues you might have (such as having any reflective surfaces that interfere with the lasers).

You also may want to take a look at the Deluxe Audio Strap which greatly improves the ergonomics and adds built in audio for the Vive, though that’s extra. Unless you bought a Vive Pro, which includes that!
