When you trigger a quest event, often by talking to an npc, a block of text pops up for a few seconds and then disappears. Often it is too long to read in the time it is visible. When you’re talking to an npc, you’re also already reading something so you have to turn to the side (so it doesn’t overlap) and quickly read the new text before returning to what the npc was saying.
The text in notifications doesn’t seem to appear elsewhere, so you only have the one brief chance to read it. It seems relevant/interesting sometimes.
You could put less text in there, or extend the time it’s shown, or have a log page in the journal that shows the last messages you got. As-is it’s sort of a waste because most people won’t be able to read a paragraph in two seconds.
Yeah it is the same that’s in your journal. I had the same issue with not being able to read it fast enough but realized it was being transferred to the journal.
Like where it says "Completed: " at the bottom of the page? You may be right.
Though, I’ve had a few conversations with npcs that pop up multiple notifications, so… maybe it is updating the journal every time? If so I guess that technically addresses the point of not being able to read it, but it would be a little cumbersome.
