Reentering Shard dungeon puts you into the distance

There is an issue when a sharded dungeon is exited by mistake that puts the player out into the distance looking into the sky instead of reentering the dungeon.

For example and this has happened a few times, when in Airship, if I get too close to the exit during the fight I wind up looking at the bottom of the ship if I try to enter the dungeon again. Is this by design?
