I’ve been enjoying the immersive experience that OrbusVR provides and have been playing it for a while. I’m now exploring high-level dungeon and attacks, but I’m having trouble making the most of my combat methods, particularly in terms of teamwork and effective use of class skills.
In particular, I’m having trouble with the following:
Which team configuration do you believe is ideal for taking on the most difficult dungeons? I know it’s important to balance DPS, tanking, & healing roles, but are there some classes that work particularly well in certain dungeons or scenarios?
Rotation of Skills: As Runemage, I’m attempting to deal as much damage as possible. My skill rotation seems to be a little less effective than it could be, though. Are there any tricks or suggested moves that you find effective when under pressure?
Coordination and Communication: While effective communication is essential, what other tactics do your teams employ to maintain order during tumultuous conflicts? Do you only utilise voice chat to everything that you do, or have you found that some callouts or signals are especially helpful?
Equipment and Upgrades: Lastly, what order do you improve your equipment in? I’ve been attempting to improve my gear, but I’m not sure if my attention should be directed more at unaltered stats or towards particular perks that fit my playstyle.
Any guidance, pointers, or materials you could provide would be greatly appreciated in order to help me perform better on challenging snowflake material. I can’t wait to keep developing and provide my teams better contributions.
1 Tank, 1 Support, 3 DPS. The individual classes don’t make much of a difference. Given the same skill level, Mages will hit the highest DPS, followed by Rangers/Scoundrels, then Shaman. You can absolutely do all content with any mix of the classes though, so long as you fill the roles.
Warriors tend to have better single target aggro management, whereas Paladins have better group aggro retention.
Bards don’t heal as much as Musketeers, but provide buffs for your DPS that make fights go significantly faster.
I believe @NotScott did a whole thesis on what rotations hit the highest DPS though. I’ll just leave that tag there and let him do his thing
Some of the best Shard Dungeon runs I’ve done have been when we were all goofing off in chat. Callouts like “hotfoot reminder”, “[MECHANIC HERE]”, etc can help, but it depends on the group. I’ve done Shard 15s where nobody talked, and I’ve done some where we were discussing some raunchy subjects. It just comes down to the players you’re playing with
Unless you’re a Tank, focus on your weapons more than anything. Armor on Cloth/Leather classes don’t protect for much, especially in high level content. Each +1 on your weapon increases damage by around 5%, so get that +6 as soon as you can.
