I was doing a bit of questing earlier and I found my wound combo would not register a majority of the time today. I haven’t played in a couple days but it seemed to be fine before that. I’d get the odd combo that wouldn’t register but today there were entire mobs I was attacking that the combo wouldn’t register a single time during combat.
Anyone else experiencing this? Obviously its reducing my killing speed a ton. I made sure my shield was sitting on my left side just incase somehow it was getting in the way but still no luck.
It sounds like it might be a positional issue. If you get too close to an enemy as a warrior it won’t always register your up swings as vertical, but horizontal instead. Next time you have that issue pay attention to the direction in which the yellow slashing animation is going and if you’re getting horizontals on your up swing just take a small step back.
I’ll give it another shot. It was after using charge and stepping in close to stun, but I thought that’s what I have always done. If I still have issues I’ll try to record a clip. Thanks guys!
I noticed positional issue but with placement of hit. if you hit mob 30% from sword tip it hits well, but 50% to hilt is crap shoot. Also as I am tall so those cactus dudes are retarded hit box is so low I feel like I am sweeping the floor with a tiny broom.
There’s definitely something not right with the hit boxes. I can’t say if this is recent or not but, on the target dummy I have no problem hitting combos, but on many mobs the upper cuts just don’t register as such. I realise it’s tougher than on a dummy but I truly do think it needs some tweaking after a lot of testing on various mobs. I had a Musketeer healing me for a few hours while I practised on various mobs and it just seems off to me.
Alana_M’s experience basically mirrors mine. Testing on dummies is no problem but on certain types of mobs the combos just don’t register. Perhaps it is a hit box issue? It seems odd that you have to be VERY close to mobs to be able to shield stun them, yet standing that close to them prevents your combos from registering.
Man you just made my night, literal LOL. I know the feeling, and I’m not even that tall, but fighting short things is extremely awkward for a fighter, rofl.
I will do some testing when i get on tonight to see if I notice any changes.
Yeah last night (UTC/GMT +1) was pretty horrible warrioring for me as well. I had a little lag before the patch but after its gotten way worse.
For me it’s not so much the hitbox or the vertical vs horizontal slash registration (which is basically just practice the distance required for each individual monster type) but it’s just the lag between my actual slash and the actual slash animation hitting the mob. It’s purely visual though, my combo still goes off in the end, its just delayed.
Riley / devs if you’re reading: let me explain. The sword tip has a purple trail, right? And when you slash a monster it appears as a yellow line on the mob, either horizontally or vertically, right? Well with the lag the yellow animation is always at least one slash behind. So basically here’s a training dummy simulation:
I slash from right to left (purple trail)
I slash from bottom to top (purple trail), i see my horizontal slash from right to left now (yellow line)
I slash from right to left (purple trail), i see my vertical slash from bottom to top now (yellow line)
I slash from left to right (purple trail), i see my horizontal slash from right to left now (yellow line)
I slash from right to left (purple trail), i see my horizontal slash from left to right now (yellow line) and i see that my combo procced (small explosion animation)
It’s really confusing to fight this way. I’d suggest making both the hit animations (yellow lines) and combo procs (small explosions) client side, and just have the health bars from the mobs server side. Just to not have lag have any effect on the swordplay.
I agree. I’m not noticing anything worse. However, I also have to constantly adjust my positioning so that I’m at the right striking distances.
With 3.55 (I think) where we can sword rush and then slide, that helped a lot, but I’m still constantly repositioning.
I whole-heartedly agree that a shield bash has to be really close. I broke a controller that way… Sliding in for a bash and sliding out for combos is, in my opinion, the greatest weakness of the warrior class.
It’s much worse when attacking low mobs, especially the wargs. I couldn’t hit a single uppercut on a warg. I mean, I’m doing the motion perfectly, so it should land. There is definitely something screwy with Warrior.
I don’t think there should be an “I win” button but there needs to be some consistency with landing the strikes.
Again it might have always been like that I don’t know.
