Warrior Feedback

Just wanted to leave a few of my thoughts on the current state of the warrior and a DPS and as a Tank.

The combo system is great and definitely encourages more control and attention than simply flailing a sword round to do damage. On the downside though with only 3 directions available, some combos tend to overlap each other, making chaining combos together often times far more effort than it should be.

  1. From what I can tell, the only time a Cleave can be used is after finishing a Provoke Combo. By opening with Right > Up the combo almost always turns into a Provoke. This is made even worse by the fact that short mobs such as Foxes, Spiders, and Sandworms tend to register slash directions incorrectly.

  2. The current combo for Cleave is very uncomfortable to perform, having to use 2 vertical slashes in a row without accidentally doing a side slash as you move your sword back downwards for the second strike is a real nerve pincher for the shoulders. After all of this, the move isn’t even worth it as the damage is puny, even for an AOE attack, and doesn’t generate a notable amount of special gauge.

  3. The Special gauge for Warrior currently charges quite slow compared to the other 3 classes and is arguably weaker than the other classes as well. The amount of successful combos needed for a full charge often means that it is only used once during an entire dungeon run. Twice if your group’s DPS is low and the fights take longer. Meanwhile the Mage has gotten off 4 Kamehameha Waves, and the Archer has had their’s active for most of the run.

  4. Slashing downwards counts as a horizontal slash. Could Down slashes be added? Or at least make downward swings count as vertical slashes?

  5. If a mob touches a Warrior the shield bash goes off on it’s own, and can often lead to problems when you were trying to save that shield bash to interrupt a Healer and now it’s on cooldown. Shield Bash should require the shield to be swung instead of going off simply by being held in place and mob bonks their own head on it.

  6. Charge, as of right now, locks a player in place when used. You have to either turn to the side or teleport away to break free. (In Slide mode)

EDIT:
7. Warriors who are solo have to walk away from larger groups of enemies as unlike the other 3 classes, do not have any way to pull individual mobs. Being limited to charging or face-pulling means that only groups that are spread out can be attacked without being completely mauled to death.

EDIT 2:
8. Warrior shields only repair if they are completely broken. So if a fight leaves your shield with a tiny sliver of HP it will remain that way until the fight is over or something deals that last tiny bit of damage to it. I believe the shield should repair itself if it goes a set time without being hit at all.

right now there is too many players complaining or having issues/suck with the other 3 classes that the devs wont look at warrior

I agree on all points, kevin_f.
I leveled a Warrior from 2 to 6 this afternoon; kind of binged on sword swinging today and noticed most of these.

If a downward swing could count as an alternate to upward swings – so that either counts as what is an Up for the combos – I think that would help Cleave flow better.
For Cleave then we could do Up then Down, or Down-Up instead of Up-awkwardly_move_arm_down_and_aside_slow_enough_to_not_register_another_hit-Up.
It would also allow us to mix up the other combos to our liking.

My only issue that wasn’t mentioned by the OP is that my Up swings do not do nearly as much damage as my side swings, specifically as solo’ing when doing the Wound combo.
I noticed at some point today that my side swings were doing 11 points of damage each while my Up swings were doing a consistent 3 points. Drat.
I know I’m using the same amount of energy/force so the speed is the same, so perhaps I’m not traveling as far with an Up but to travel as far in a swing as my Left or Right I would literally have to start my controller on the floor and swing up to above my head. Is that expected behavior? /shrug

Disagree with cleave it’s easy after you practice you have to go right dip the control back swing it up dip it back the other side swing up again left just make sure the sword is away from the target on the down swing

Agree about the special gauge I’m level 19 still don’t know what mine does because I barely have the chance to use it and when I do it’s basically irelevent

Down slashes register as verticle if you do it right

Charge bugs have been reported but the root may be intended still never got a dev response on that

As for pulling multiple mobs you can’t cleave so you can’t talk as I was told when I made the same complaint about skull worgs at level 5 git gud.

And agree with the shield bash complaint and the shield recharge complaint but if you are good at managing your shield timing/ kiting a non issue also

Bigger complaint is how basically everything with 4 legs has a pain in the arse hitbox if you are standing level or God forbid above the target on a slope but all in all if you position correctly when you pull you should be okay

Warriors are in part weak because they require next to no skill to play if you take away what little skill left that is required they become pure face roll
