Beta 6 Mission and Leveling Curve Feedback

That’s exactly how Cenn is reacting to me - no response at all, just exits the menu. I met someone yesterday who also didn’t have the quest in her journal, but had received the quest. It definitely seems to be bugged…

Ill look into this tommorow as it does sound bugged.

Found the problem with Cenn, were there any other lore quests that you were having problems with? Just out of curiosity how far have has everyone gotten through the quests?

I’m pretty sure the Mayor is bugged the same way. I don’t remember if I got a lore quest from her, but if I did, it isn’t in the book. Also, when you click the lore button on her menu, it acts the same way Cenn’s did.

So far, Darius isn’t bugged. I’ve only made it as far as “go speak with my commrade in x location” (can’t remember x, sorry.). Every time I speak with him in the lore menu, it works just fine.

The salvager doesn’t seem to be bugged, but doesn’t have any lore quests to give (as indicated by the dialog).

Sicilus is fine. I’ve only made it to the second amulet quest.

I think Chef Lethrow may be bugged too, but I can’t remember at all. If I get a chance to jump on this evening before the server goes down, I’ll check.

Okay ya the mayor and salvaging just have no quests in the live game yet, we are still testing them on our dev server. But glad the rest are working for you!

I would like to see some Class specific quest givers, and I see these as being used both for quests for specific classes and to teach the player how to play the classes in the first place. While the journal does tell you what you can do, it doesn’t do much to tell the player how to do it. I’d say have some quests specifically to teach how the basics of the class work, and then 2 more quests that correspond to each talent as you level (possibly with providing 1-2 forgetfulness potions so you can try one, swap to try the other, then swap back if you like the first better).
So something like this for the Warrior as an easy example:

Lv1 quests:

  • Perform each combo (provoke, wound, cleave, hamstring) 5 times
  • Break your shield on enemy attacks (both big and small to show the difference)
  • Use your horn to get the attention of enemies x times
  • Perform a shield slam x times on an enemy
  • sword charge to enemies x times

Talent Quests:

  • Heal yourself with provoke x times
  • Apply Bleed with wound x times
etc (cause I can’t remember the other talents off hand and that’s too much to type up anyway).

Something like this will give the player a reason to try out all the parts of their class as well as getting rewarded for it. And since I’m sure there are plenty of players who just won’t read the journal for how to play a class, these missions should have a good description of how to do each thing as well.
