In-game Purchases

Adding this again as I forgot to tag it as a suggestion

I am not advocating PTP / PTW

I do think it would be good to offer some in-game purchases (cosmetic or other non-essential items) that would allow people who want to use real money to support the devs. Maybe it is a unique fishing rod skin, different skins for wands or muskets, etc. Maybe this is in the works or already been shot down. I am rather new and have fallen in love with Orbus. I think now that it is live you could raise a lot of funds through Steam purchases.

And keep in mind this would benefit the entire community as more money raised means perhaps some of those missed stretch goals from the Kickstarter could be met even though the KS is done.

Cosmetic items have always been a part of the plan and mentioned multiple times (they are just less important that the incoming raids ect) I’m super excited for new pets myself

Edit: I recommend you watch one of Riley’s interviews with master shadow on YouTube they are full of awesome info

I hope he does another one of those interviews at some point. It’s really nice to get tangible information about what’s coming in the future.

Devblogs also have a lot of tangible info about what’s coming  we can probably pressure him into another interview after another big milestone

Good to hear. There should be options for people to spend money for non-essential or fun cosmetic items - at a minimum. It doesn’t break the game, is a big fund raising source for devs who deserve to make money off hard work, and is commonplace in the industry. I understand and agree that people shouldn’t be able to buy the best gear in the game but the reality is that with aging gamer bases there is a large amount of people who don’t have the time to sink incredible hours into a game due to careers, kids, family, etc. That segment should not be ignored as they will just take their discretionary income and spend it elsewhere. There is a way to find a happy medium that accommodates all types of gamers.

Do people really pay money to dress up their virtual dolls?

While I’d love to support the devs later down the line, I feel having this gap of fancy looking players to regular non-donating players will create a divide.

I don’t want to ask a cool looking player where they got their sweet looking gear from if they just reply “The cash shop” It takes away a part of that exploration and adventure of getting your character looking great through your own time and effort in game not by throwing the devs some money.

Ideally I’d not like to see skins and decorations locked behind a paywall.

They could alternatively make the premium currency tradable, to that of Warframe’s.

Warframe does this very well, as getting Platinum (In game premium currency) is doable without paying and by trading with players. Not only is it possible, but you can really amass a fair amount of it if you wish to grind.

Better yet, I’d be happy paying a small free each month, to ensure that I can get these items by finding/ crafting them in the game world as opposed to the cash shop.

What do other people think?

I think I’d like to change my hair style once in awhile, and that’s about it.

As long as it doesn’t affect playing in any way, go for it. I’m not into virtual dress up and could care less if my player is mis-matched or out of style.

Many people may be for this but personally hate it let them open a shop with physical merch to support devs or do another successful kickstarter with exclusive give a ways but we don’t need a sparkle pony store like wow has in orbus in my not so humble opinion

Edit if this does happen I’ll actively boycott the in game purchases and try to persuade others to do the same

Edit 2: honestly am not too fond of the exclusive kickstarter idea either don’t mind a kick start but many people already are upset they missed out on the first one over cosmetic gear if there is to be another kick starter let it be toward an expansion set much later and let the rewards be specific details of that expansion like the extra class we were only 5600 or so away from unlocking in the first one

But that should be a barber function paid for in dram not real currency like fiesta

I’d really rather not see a monthly fee introduced to orbus since I’ve already purchased and invested hours into this game if they were going to do that they should’ve said so from the get go but I also agree cosmetic gear shouldn’t be locked behind a paywall

I’m really looking forward to the shop for cosmetic / nonessential stuff. (Come on, pink and purple attire!)

I also wonder if there’s a voluntary donation page, because I’d love to be able to give whenever I can. I really like that this game isn’t monthly subscription, but with a voluntary basis donation page, some of us could treat it like it is :grinning: just whatever amount however often that anyone who wants to could do :+1:

Now that’s a great idea if people want to support the devs for their hard work let the game itself be the reward and just put money in the tip jar to go towards bettering the game

I’m all down for cosmetic purchases, but I would love it more if I could donate.
I’d also like to see some customizability with our player houses, so they could throw the cosmetic purchases as that as well. That way it isn’t insanely obvious which players are paying. But really what I want is to support orbus and keep it going for a very long time!!

I’d love to support orbus without excluding players who don’t have spare income after the gaming rig / vive / orbus purchases from cool in game content that could be made available for all

I 100% support the idea as long as theres no P2W elements. Though Orbus needs more item skins attainable ingame.

I can see that. In that case, I vote future in-game ability to buy with dram pretty pink and purple attire that shows despite whatever gear I actually have equipped.

Come on, official voluntary donation page! :grinning:
