In-game Purchases

Cosmetic items on the shop sounds legit. I’m 100% ok with losing the player base who would leave because they simply couldn’t get that one cosmetic item they NEEDED to continue playing the MMO. We’ll be left with casuals who mix and math costumes and make our towns more vibrant. We’ll have uniquely geared endgame players who show off their awesome cosmetics that the casuals can dream of getting some day. You’ll have the people who don’t give a shit about cosmetic items. and you’ll have all the other people who also know what an MMO is about.

The only worry I have would be pets on the shop. I think that would add some issues later if you want to do a pet battling system (if the pets have unique stats and attacks). But you could always just make sure to keep an eye on the meta and make the shop pets not have any top moves or better yet you provide one or more pets you can acquire in game which share the exact same stats and attacks. People typically are buying pets in the shop for the looks anyways

I’m a sucker for cosmetics/transmog in every game. Avatar’s gotta look good, right?
(Jeez, that might have started way back with One Must Fall 2097 in the '90s with the “cheat code” during robot select that let you change the robot’s 3 colors, oh boy…)

Being able to buy cosmetic items (and NEVER stat boosting items) is fine with me, I’ve spent more than a few bucks over time in various games (WoW, Elite Dangerous, The Secret World, Elder Scrolls Online…) when I’ve had a some cash on hand.

As an idea: cosmetics could be purchasable with real money OR dram, so players could acquire them whichever way they can afford. (“Time is money, friend!”)

.
Personally, I would love non-combat vanity pets for purchase.
I miss my little orange dragon from the beta, “Draggo”. I was surprised how fast I got attached to him. That’s the power of VR plus a little bit of interaction (reaction and haptic vibrations on petting them).

Wow, unbelievable insulting comment from Dean. It’s comments like these that make me wish all zones in Orbus had PvP enabled.

@Riley_D I’ll pay money for that little lizard you put in the desert. Or a mini donkey pet.

That donkey is loved by all. Having a permanent escort quest via mini pet would be funny. The role play possibilities

I say screw cash shops and bring on the sub! HATE the idea of ANYTHING locked behind a cash wall in an MMO! Much rather pay £8 to £10 a month for access to ALL of the content.

May I just piggyback off this donkey mention from Logan to say one of the minor things that weirds me out is the 3 donkeys at the fort beside Guild City… they all lift and lower their heads in perfect sync, which spooks me somehow!

lol, so you rather have all or nothing? You rather have every single piece of content behind a paywall (the monthly subscription cost) instead of having one piece of content behind a paywall. hmm, seems legit.

Works out much cheaper in the long run and the devs get a steady stream of income. Cash stores can become very abusive very quickly. Ofcourse if a store is the only form of income then most new content goes to there instead of the game.

“Oh cool a new mount added to the… cash shop” as an example. Much rather be able to farm it. That’s why i stopped playing ESO and now most AAA games :frowning:

Kinda like to play the game a payed for. Not play the store :stuck_out_tongue:

in that example you ARE playing the game you paid for. then they made a new mount and sold it to people, but not to you.

I think your overthinking this a little. Also i probably could of worded things better.

Either way i guess all will have different views on the subject and i’m not gonna be that guy that spills his milk over the internet because others have a different view. In fact the more opinions the better!
