Multi-Person Ritual Spells

I had the idea for multi-mage ritual magic spells to be implemented. For example, several mages would have to be present to pull off a spell, and they’d each be casting part of it. That way, there’d be magic you couldn’t perform without playing with other people. I don’t have any ideas for what those spells would be, but any thoughts?

Obviously it would be to summon meteor. Or Mephistopheles. Or bahamut. Either way it’s an awesome idea. Can’t wait to fizzle myself out of multi-mage groups!

Right! I’m loving the game, and I’m stoked to see where it goes. My only real issue is my portal spells not opening to where I direct them, but it’s also funny and enjoyable that magic isn’t always predictable.

If you want help on that, hit me up in game and I’d he happy to check out your portals and see if I can give any tips.

That sounds really cool

I’ve always wanted a meteor or even meteor storm spell. Or a skeleton army. Maybe a large dome shield to protect your team.

I could see having one mage start the ritual, setting up some kind of circle for the other mages to gather around and do their parts of the ritual. Then the original mage would be the one to finish the casting/targeting.

It’s happening guys ! Haha.

Love this idea. Maybe as a way to open the gate into the dimension of Täella-Brüha? Maybe each mage requiring a unique type of reagent for their part of the spell.

I hope that the game doesn’t ever remove the reagent requirement for the ritual spells. It adds some complexity and difficulty. RIP mage reagents in Wacraft…

Half-life 3 Confirmed.

This is a cool idea. It reminds me of a text-based game I used to play where a very high level and specifically trained wizard had to suck mana from other wizards to permanently add extra defense to armor. It took a lot of skill, time, and cooperation to pull off (Not that I ever pulled it off, I spend 1000+ hours in that game and never even reached a level cap).

if mass ritual spells were added in to the game that would be awesome but the question is how would it work hers my idea on how it would work

first we have to make 2 sub rune mage classes the first is the rune link mage who chooses the spell (in advance) and directs the flow of the spell and the second sub class is the group rune mage who draws the the required runes

here is a better description of the two

the rune link mage cant draw any of the runes them self but instead tells the group rune mage what to draw and activates it by pointing at them and activating it like you normally would

the group rune mage is the opposite they cant activate there part of the spell but can draw the required runes and they cant draw any more then one or two runes for the spell

(to make sure there not defenseless please give them a off hand weapon and a little extra hp also i would love a way to check if the runes are drawn correctly wile being a group mage it would suck to see the spell fizzle on the last rune)

so any one else have a good way for them to do this?

To even simplify it over mass spells that you can’t cast without X amount of mages, just strengthen our current spells by casting them with others?

that is much simpler but it may be to simple it sounds like it just be a bigger version of existing spells not new ones and i want new ones plus you have a max of 5 people to a party to work with/around its not like we can have 10-20 people casting the same spell

I would really love to see some form of multi-mage ritual in game. Some random thoughts/ideas:

(All of these would likely require a ton of reagents to keep them from being common occurrences. Like 10 per mage or more, and require 3-10 mages or more).

  • Ritual to make it stop raining, start raining, or even trigger crazy weather events, sandstorms, day to night, night to day, raining blood, raining frogs, etc. Cosmetic, but dramatic.
  • Once a week castable multi-mage ritual, gives everyone in the area an extended “blessing” buff for the week, such as a small chance to get extra drops from harvesting/fishing/mob drops, etc. Opportunities for community scheduled event
  • Ritual to create a long-duration portal between two points. Need several mages at both locations in the world casting it at same time. Portal lasts for up to an hour. Alternately, multi-mage ritual to create a new (but temporary) teleport stone in the world. Lasts X duration or until another the ritual is performed somewhere else.
  • Ritual to open portal to new destination (basically what Elk called out for realm of chaos above), maybe only possible during certain times/events, etc. (Alternately, used to summon an alternate airship, maybe a phantom one, to go to different location).
  • Ritual performed next to, or even surrounding a body of water to increase fish yields, or increase fish passivity, so they trigger faster and put less tension on the line. May also be the only way to cause some rare fish to become catchable.
  • Ritual to unlock a new wing of the fellowship hall.
  • Ritual to create a temporary safe area within the wilds, for community events and parlay between killing.
  • Ritual to summon a new world boss, or speed up existing respawn of world bosses. Spending resources to lower downtime.

I love all of this. I almost feel greedy for wanting to make mage so awesome when it makes me feel like it makes the other classes lackluster :frowning: I’d much prefer it to be entirely new spells, and hopefully secretive. It’d be excellent if there were a ton of hidden spells that could be uncovered, and not just on pillars. Pillars would just be the “basic” ones. I’d also like to be able to engrave rune(s)? on an item so that you could cast a spell on demand. Perhaps once you did, it would erase that rune from the item, and you’d have to draw it on again, that way it would have charges, ala D&D.

Don’t forget the ritual to cast a super-ultra-fantastic-multi-fireworks-that-last-1-minute-and-cover-the-whole-area!

if that takes after the current fire work spells no one will be able to cast them
well unless they were like Elk lol

Hold on a second… We could make this work for other classes too!

Some thoughts:

Wariors holding their swords together in the air for a super charge. (Swords touching each other)

Musketeers connecting turrets together like some kind of interconnected network. (Hive mind?)

And rangers creating a super trap by combining their traps. Maybe by throwing their traps together and shooting their traps to charge?

Or even better some kind of ritual that involves multiple classes. Something simular to the elegonta boss summoning. But more like a multi step ritual that involves skills and coordination from every class. (And more party orientated instead of raid orientated)

what would the big ranger trap do though? xD
