My opinion on Runemage's Runecasting

Yes yes yes yes! Please color the lines… that would be amazing!

Master yo-yo’ers use better equipment because a basic yo-yo can’t do most tricks and has to be upgraded. At the same time a beginner will almost never be able to use good equipment as it is significantly harder to use but offers more freedom and versatility. Most thrower’s first time using a stringless yo-yo usually results in throwing it through a window or TV, but it sure can do some crazy things when mastered after hundreds of hours of practice.

I believe good Runemages look for this same experience. Taking a difficult skill and mastering it until it feels second nature and can start doing tricks that new mages would never even consider attempting. Three Level 3 Frost bolts in the air at once? I’ve seen someone do it, and it completely blew everyone else’s minds to watch.

Z-axis colouring sounds like a very good idea, so long as there’s an acceptable delta (and I’m quite certain there is) that should give people the margin to correct whilst they’re drawing the spell out.

As a matter of curiosity, does the spell have the aligned on the vertical plane, or does it just need to be flat? For example, a horizontal plane cast? Making an adjustment such that the orientation of the cast is taken into account could be quite helpful, as, whilst casts do drift from the vertical plane, they tend to have a linear offset (for example a straight line being diagonal in z), such that there will be a ‘flat’ plane in which the cast is correct.

Perhaps rather that firing off spells in rapid succession the “sorceror” would use more of a channeling mechanic. Chaining the broad movements together like a magical music conductor to keep the effect going and such.

Hello, here my humble oppininos.
Im almost lvl8 mage cca (30H in game 70% learning how to cast, rest lvling). Casting spells is hard i get it.
Problem is, we have only one realy usable combo. Frostbolt and Ice Lance. Ice Lacnce is insanelly unrelaiable. Once i cast 10 in a row 5min after i misscast 20 in a row. Its anoying, frustrating and not realy funny. I cant kill same lvl enemy width firebolt lvl2. I have to cast lvl 2 affliction, frosbolt and hope for good icelance, if i misscast icelance im dead in 80% cases. Spend fortune on repair that way.
Also problem is that Hunter does way more dmg, way safer. If i miss one spell, monster at my lvl will most certainly kill me. Therafore exping is insanely hard. Its like Hunter is an easy mode and mage superhard mode.

Low dmg, hard casting, Low armor.

I often cant cast spells, wich i could cast otherday perfectly, like 20-30x in a row
Then it feels that it wont get better and i dont have chance to learn it never.

I think, hig skill cap should be at least rewarded higher overal DMG. Not way lower.

honestly i agree on the skill cap, and the difficulty, but if you are really good, and don’t miss, it seems that the consensus is that runemage is the most effective class dps wise

Just a piece of advice, a slowed ennemy (even with frost 2) can most of the time be kited, and ice lance has a far bigger range than expected

im likeing the red line bit i do have troble with casting and it feels like i did the same thing as normal but it failed. so to see where it failed and why would grately help

Anyway, mage is still most amazing class ever  Im just curious, should be people start casting second spell as soon as fire previous one, or we should rather direct first one ? I think it is huge difference in overal DPS …

yep ideally as soon as a spell is off your wand, you should be casting the next one… in practice, it depends if you need to kite. But slowing down ennemies, especially if you can reliably cast Frost 3, gives you a confortable buffer

If you can’t, you should learn to cast spells in a way that don’t move too much, the one still in the air. Drawing with the wand parallel to the ground helps

Note to Orbus - you may want to leave this off the marketing brochure.

I tend to fire off a frost 2 and then spam fireball twos till they get close. I say spam but I’m just firing them off rapidly so I’ll usually have 3 in the air at a time depending on the distance. For the most part if you fire a frost spell and if you can draw another spell quick enough you’ll have time to redirect the first spell

The spell system might be perfectly consistent if you are perfectly drawing the spells, but when we deal with the opposite range where the bare minimum is required to get a spell cast off, it seems like the angles of the spells can vary drastically and sometimes consistently cast, and sometimes consistently fail, which makes it feel like a moving target.
