Basically, to start proc ᛟᚨᚢ [or ᛟᚨᚢᛗ/ ᛟᚨᛗᚢ], ᚨᚢᛗ, ᚨᛗᚢ. This can cover an affliction mage rotation.
If you want to overstay 4s, mid-rotation cast a frost & proc ᚾᚢᛗ, ᚾᛗᚢ, ᚨᚢᛗ, ᚨᛗᚢ.
In groups, you could also drop ᚾᛗᚢ for ᛏᚢᛗ
Which is a good hybrid affliction/fireball build. Do a normal affliction rotation, or fire spam & toss
frosts in to keep up your n-rune and frost tiles. Dropping an unnecessary n-rune tile & using heal tiles > in a group just makes these even more reliable.
Past threads have explanation:
Also Scott’s thread:
Delay into affliction is still usable, however, starting with affliction guarantees a clean tile proc. I also cast affliction substantially faster now, which is free real estate for squeezing in more fireballs.
I still use 4 runes in my affliction sets because they allow more leeway + more fireball time if needed. N-runes will pick up at the end of the rotation, giving you a minimum of 20% tiles going into your next affliction (but naturally you want to keep higher tiles). (ᚨᚢᛗ will proc during my affliction tiles & will also proc during accidental/intentional frosts)
You could opt for cleaner, shorter affliction tiles like ᛟᚨᚢ etc.
Updated the thread with some hybrid tiles I’ve started using. They can be fireball or affliction tiles. Find them under my graphics as hybrid tiles.
Here’s a some examples today using them on Ancient Guardian using +6 first strike/bleed & triplicity on shields.
Ultimately, I feel drawn to start using affliction/frost/fire and affliction/double/frost for potential max DPS. I’m unsure of my actual tile uptime other than that it’s probably pretty close to 100%. That is one reason I like the 6s affliction tiles because overstaying 4s w/ just fireballs isn’t as big a deal. However the versatility of being affliction or fire spam tiles is pretty convenient.
It would be even better if you start the healing tile with a M instead of the healing tile. Because sometimes you proc M and sometime N. While healing tile procs every second with a musky. So you get less interference starting with M.
Although if we talking about a bard healer only it would be best to start with a healing tile, because it only procs once every 3 seconds. But in that case the tile procs relatively rarely anyway. So in my opinion I build it on musky heals. Aka starting with M.
I suppose ᛗᚢᛏ > ᛗᛏᚢ as fireballs are hitting 2-3x per second while heals are only occurring once per second. Or does ᛏ occur with clock cycles after ᛗ/ᚾ? I haven’t checked if renew ticks on the clock or independently.
ᛏᚢᛗ is still pretty good because 2/3 the time, if not more, should be hitting ᛗ not ᚾ
(9+9+4) = 22, 22/3 = 7.3 , (10+10+4) = 24, 24/3 = 8
hmm actually probably lower than 4% on n-rune due to receiving heals and other runes. Probably 1% lmao.
They average at about 7.3-8% at 2.25fb/s casting speed, but they do proc quick when getting healed and will overwrite other tiles. I guess my concern with ᛗ coming first is that without heals they momentarily might be low damage tiles then they get replaced (3-4s later at most though.) That said, ᛏ first is ~1/3 the time 1-4% tiles…
(or possibly ᛗᛏᚢ just incase your fireball hits after the heal, causing you to wait another 1s, meaning 2-3 fireballs + 2 or 3 hit proc for -2,-3,-4% tiles). Similarly with, ᛗᛏᚢ means you could hit several fireballs before ᛏ but not another 2 or 3 hit proc because clock ticks are 1s and having already hit ᛗ, that means ᛏ will arrive in <1s. I’m also unsure if renew ticks for example are sync’d with the clock and if so, how. Will need to look into it.
Why? Because you may may get a heal followed by n-rune rather than m-rune. Thus meaning you’d cast 3 fireballs, 1 n-rune, then 2 more fireballs before seeing m-rune + heals and other interference potentially. Starting with ᛗ, it means that yes when you get a heal then your first tile proc could very likely be garbage (although 4% is already pretty bad). But, very quickly, you are going to replace that garbage proc with better tiles. Then it will proceed to spam out 9/10% tiles for the entire duration you are getting healed. ᛏᚢᛗ would be the best choice for those not proccing n-rune. With n-rune @ 2.25 fireballs, ᛏᚢᛗ guarantees you will have ~4% tile procs around 1/3 of the time. ᛗᚢᛏ might proc like crap once here and there at the start of renews, but then it procs strong repeatedly.
Shown above, ᛏᚢᛗ
(9+9+4) = 22, 22/3 = 7.3 , (10+10+4) = 24, 24/3 = 8
They average at about 7.3-8% at 2.25fb/s casting speed
So not bad either tbh. Especially since the real number will be slightly higher due to procing ᛗ more than n-rune due to random circumstance like movement, missing, or popping. Furthermore, ᛏᚢᛗ is bard-friendly.
