Reborn Patch 10.95: Raid Release

Had the text bug again, this time I noticed it does not happen on the social menu but happens everywhere else, even the teleport pillar, my dram, everywhere…

Okay, I have an idea on how to fix this and we’ll attempt a fix in the patch this week.

Raid Vendor: Can we have an option to buy shards again instead of gear? It recently took 33 glimmering shards (no kidding) on one single weapon to get one stat (unbending) on it, now I’m almost drained of my OG stocks and can only dream to ever reroll all the new double-stats on gear… at the same time it’s hard to motivate people to raid who don’t need tokens since they are maxed out on +2 gear.
Shards would be a great incentive, since in Reborn we actually need exponentionally more shards for this than available from dungeons.
Plus new players arrive with 0 shards, need everything, and those who trade items with them miss out on one of the rarest resources.

I wouldn’t mind a vendor to change a certain amount of lower shards into higher tiers, too, as Landru once suggested, so those who can’t find spots in raid got a chance to get hands on proper amounts, too.

I really think a shard vendor in it self would be good to have, like you said you need so many more glimmering shards now than what you used to need in OG and they’re even rarer than they were in OG.
A 10:1 trading i think would be a good spot, maybe that’s even a little high. With that 10 stacks of minor shards would get you 1 stack of major shards which could get you 10 glimmering shards or 1 effervescent shard.

If you then wanted to farm shards, the best thing to do would probably be to kill minotaur or sewer rat over and over in a normal dungeon.
An OK group could probably do at leat a kill a minute for 1 guaranteed major shards and a ~20%? Chance at another one every minute that would be about 72 major shards an hour which could get you 7 glimmering shards.

Yeah, in old orbus we could farm glimmering shards by doing daily rolls in unsharded tradu. It was easy to solo a lot of the bosses as a tank, or to bring one DPS, so you didn’t need to get a full shard group together to start. Each boss had its own daily drop too, so a small group could get a lot of dailys quickly by killing the easy bosses. Abberations also dropped purple gear, which gave us plenty more shards to use.

Now, you have to do a shard dungeon to even have a chance of getting glimmering shards. If you don’t do a shard 4 or above, odds are you’re still just going to get minor shards. You still have to have a full party together, you get one daily roll instead of one roll per boss, and you have to complete the whole shard to get a drop.

When new level 30 players get shard dungeon drops, we get to tell them that a suboptimal affix is “good enough” because they don’t have the shards to reroll (and won’t get the shards, especially before they get a higher tier weapon).

I think that a vendor system is a great way to make the excessive minor and major shards we get worthwhile, especially now that the grinder device gives us so many more minor shards.

Reintroducing abberations would also be a good solution, and would give high level players more challenging solo/small group activities to do. A lot of us are not finding much to do outside assembling a full shard dungeon party or grinding out easy level monsters over and over again. Abberations are a good middle ground in difficulty that are fun to fight, and could be rewarding to farm if they had good drops (rare purple gear or just glimmering shards?).

Right now, old orbus players have a significant DPS advantage because they can afford to reroll all 4 armor pieces and weapons, whereas new players struggle to find the glimmering shards to even get their weapon set up. Especially beacuse of how hard it can be to throw together pub shard groups, there is little opportunity for these players to farm shards like we were able to.

Technically you don’t have to do a shard dungeon to get a purple item. I’ve gotten many from killing mutated rat unsharded.

I haven’t ever seen those drop from unsharded bosses, are you sure? I’ve just seen the dungeoneer’s set (blue).
From the dungeons blog post:

Also note that when you are Level 29 and below, +1 Rare gear is available via normal dungeons; once you reach Level 30, normal dungeons will only grant Rare 30 (or “30+0”) gear, you will need to complete Shard Level 1 or higher to receive 30+1 gear.

Purple is Epic and blue is Rare.

Yes I’m sure.

I talked to a few other people who also said they’ve gotten purple drops, though with a very rare droprate. I guess I’ve just been unlucky. Nonetheless, in old orbus purple drops were the only items in the drop pool for bosses and were also in the pool for more soloable activities (abberations). Now it’s much harder to get shards and we need many more of them to reroll our armor and weapons. It doesn’t help that there are 4 new classes to gear up too.

Much more than the “dungeon queue chest” and xp might be as a reward, have you considered raising the gear levels in normal dungeons? Make it a higher chance to get purple gear throughout all levels and increase that chance at level 30, so if you queue as a level 30 you will have a good chance to obtain 1-2 purples (+0) in one run, or a reasonable chance to get 1 purple (+1) under level 30?

also there is a problem with the broken knight his tank buster is 3 or 5 seconds delay hit on sheild after the tank buster animation

I agree with you here cam… new players basically have no shards to reroll and will take a while to get some and then they still need to be lucky to get a useful affix

So my theory is that this is done on purpose as an attempt to remove the overflow of the valuable shards from some players in old Orbus. And then over time they will add in more methods to get glimmering and effervescent shards easier again.

Sorry which overflow…? I didn’t know one single person in the OG who was drowning in shards, especially not in effervescent ones since those who are raiding alot (raid tokens were basically the only source for shards in the OG which was not neglectible… and even if you raided alot you got only few per week!) also got legendaries where they used them on.

I was one of those who did the most shards and barely had a stack of glimmerings either from these runs… and now this stack is gone in only a couple rerolls, 33 shards for one affix is just crazy high, but it seemingly happens now and then.

For some reason I expected you to respond to that in that way. That is why I specifically included “some players” :joy:

I don’t think this was completely accurate. Unless you mean something like top 30 players. Still 1 stack is a lot at-least.

I came into reborn with around 350 glimmering shards and 147 effervescent, after rerolling my level 30+4 gear I now have 117 glimmering shards and 80 effervescent, I think I’ve only gained about 20 glimmering shards since reborn due to trading gear to others and infusing, they are a lot rarer to get now and I have no idea how new players are supposed to be able to reroll their gear at the rate I have putting them at a huge disadvantage at end game.

I would like to see landru’s shard vendor idea added to help with this, but also help with the economy as we are selling shard which is constantly bringing more dram into the game on a much higher scale than it is being taken out (see Scott’s post) which is a problem that needs addressing

How many armour sets? (just curious 1? 3? 6? 8? 16?)

1 leather set and half a cloth set
