This game has no casual support. If you dont have time to play then this is not the game for you. It caters to endgame content and leveling as fast as you can. This game has no longterm value for people with a life. PSA
Iām not sure I understand this⦠In one thread, too fast to level (easy for casual players to access end content), in another thereās no support for casual players?
I have a life and do endgame stuff like 1x/week. Been doing this for about 6-8 months now with no issue and will continue to do so going forward
I am first going to respond with a reminder to everyone to not let this devolve like last thread.
Letās also not let this devolve like this thread from a long long time ago.
It got so bad and toxic so this is a friendly reminder to have a nice friendly discussion.
Have to agree with you here. I donāt get home until 3 pm at the earliest, then it takes me an hour to get home and then I usually do a bit of work at home and only when I get done with that, which I typically take 3 hours to ensure quality work. Yes I can start doing endgame content at 4pm realistically but I end up waiting until 7 pm or even later and only do a couple of shards. Usually I do a couple of shards every week. Maybe 10 some weeks but usually only 3-5 and usually only tiers 1-7, very rarely I do shards 8-10 and honestly prefer lower shards due to Orbus not being my entire life and wanting to do something else for a while.
Now this is not saying that I always had a life, I used to play Orbus for hours at a time when I could and still would want to if I had time. I got really good when I did not have a life but now do have a life. I am still considered a more hardcore player but not to the extent of many others.
There are plenty of casual players I knew and still know who did shards and raids in old orbus and would do shards in reborn once they hit 30. It may take them longer than a day to get their old level 20 to 30 but they would still get there eventually. Even if you canāt play for a huge amount of time people make time to play the game. Yes there are people who donāt want to change things in their schedule for a game and that is fine. However there are still plenty of casual guilds and players.
In the end the main goal in Orbus is to hit level 30 and start doing end game content just like any other MMO. This does not mean you have to hit it quickly and you actually have a benefit at being slower in leveling to level 30. You will meet players who need more players for say a level 7 shard and bring you along. If they are already geared up they could also use their roll to give you gear now. You donāt have to do high shards, but you can.
The game does cater its content for the higher level playerbase. But realistically what MMO does not do this? MMOs in general want to keep a large playerbase. It just so happens that hardcore players are most likely to leave if there is not a focus or a smaller focus on endgame content. If I hit max gear too easily and the shards are not fun I might just stop playing until new content comes out. Getting stuff from shards and completing high shards in 15 minutes or less or just on time is very satisfying for many players.
Orbus Potter and the Hallway of Bugs. This would just be the first chapter as I am a slow writer though Donāt worry I am not JK. Rowling so I wonāt be making changes after 6 main books and 9 side books are done to the universe!
My life = 3 kids, a husband, and a mini zoo. My husband works 12 hour days has a max lv and runs end game content with us. We both have a life and play.
Im not sure what you are looking for? You may want to rethink how you approach the community though. The casual support that I think you are looking for are the people that you just said have no life. Its one of the things that make this game so great. We learn from each other. Most āraid whoresā are happy to chat and help newer (and older) players. Try to interact with people in game (but be nice!!!)
Well congratulations. Christ Iām just making a convo. Guess I cant post an opinion. Iām done with you all. You people are making this personal. Have a good life. Iāll pray for you.
No man I am saying the opposite. Talk to people in game if you need help/support. Most people are happy to chat and help but you cant jump into a community yell that they have no life and expect to be greeted with open arms.
Just start again. If you have questions ask them. Chat in game (especially around high-step).
I did none of this. Overreact much?
Final fight with endboss: ājust run around in a circle, all his adds and orb attacks will fill up the room and cause lag and then heāll be stuck and we can poke him to death!ā
Problem is youāre coming onto the forums and saying things that donāt make sense and not explaining yourself. Reborn was literally rebuilt for the solo casual player.
-
Constant events that drop gear and harvestables, that you can participate in as much or little as you want. Makes it easier for solo players.
-
Rewards for joining random dungeon queue to allow players to gear up and participate without spending a ton of time looking for a group.
-
Increased harvestables, and drops giving casuals access to these things without a large time investment or knowledge required which is harder to gain as a solo player.
You can level up as slowly as you want. Sounds like you have a problem with other people getting the things they wanted since you donāt have to take part in any of it and could just mob grind to cap super slowly if you wanted.
Wow. Just wow. You prove my point. Negative opinions are not welcome (even though I was not being negative).
Good idea right here!
So after reading through the posts, I kinda of feel like the concern for the percieved playability of casual players is less caused by the new game mechanics and more a result of interactions with other players/guilds in game.
As a generalization, casual players want to be able to participate in all available content without having to put in the time or effort that the hardcore players expect to spend. I think reborn meets those requirements quite gracefully. A casual player could level a single class to max in the same time a hardcore player could level 2 or 3 to max. Either way that player gets to end game content if they want to participate in it. But for the casual player, if they dont want to participate in the raids or shards they still have other classes they can level or other in game events (lore quests for example) to fill their play time. All that said, I feel the game is built appropriately for those purposes.
As someone who has generally been a casual player, I can say that the hardcore player guilds look very intimidating when you take them on reputation alone. While, yes, every guild has a pill or 2, most of the playerbase are quite receptive to requests for assistance or guidance from other players, casual and hard core alike. In fact, in my own guild I know of some members who would intentionally spend an evening in highsteppe from time to time in OG with the express purpose of helping new players get acquainted with class mechanics.
Casual and hardcore gamers alike should be able to get equal enjoyment from the game and, again, I think reborn meets those needs and does it well. Iām in a guild mixed with casuals and hardcore players and we all enjoy the time we spend together, but we also do not judge or chastise players for placing irl 1st. Weāve got players who play anywhere from 3-5 hrs a day to those that play maybe 3 hrs a week and we all get along in that just fine. So consider if maybe just having a few conversations with those players not of your kind might change your perspective of the game as well as your enjoyment of it.
These quotes make it seem like your arguing with an emotional response as apposed to using statistics and mechanics of the game. By looking at the mechanics you can easily tell it has been made more casual friendly. Quote from Luvstosmooch
There used to be a time where Wilds existed and you needed those materials for end game potions. The only way to get them was to go into a PVP enabled area which does not sound very casual friendly. You could buy these overpriced mats or buy the pots overpriced from stalls but that required dram, which you would have to spend time to get and that made it casual unfriendly.
Then Reborn comes out and not only do you level faster from regular orbus but you can also get every mat really easy. The only things that would be non casual would be legendary fish and ageing the potions. Ageing the potions because you are casual and might not log on when they would be aged. And legendary fish because they could have requirements like it to be raining in game or be a certain in game time. With these potions being required to be aged you would need to do this for high level stuff. But if you are a casual player you most likely will not be doing higher shards. Therefore you donāt even need these potions. Other than that though you can get every mat for every potion really easily. I am able to get everything I need for at least 1x pots for everything as there are resources to know where to get things. Even if you donāt want to use a resource it lets you explore and find things out for yourself which can be fun for people. Quote again,
This game is all in all much more friendly towards casual players due to everything done to make the grind lessened and easier for a casual player. There will always be content that casual players cannot necessarily do due to not having the potions or gear, but there are still things to do as a casual player
You could choose to become
- A merchant
- A quest guide
- A material harvester
- Low level shard runner
- Fisherman
There are many activities you can still enjoy while being a casual player. These are just a few things you can do casually!
I feel the OPās forum spamming has had very little constructive to say other than just tantrum/troll.
Jessica_C I think makes a legit and constructive post,
Iām very similar, Iām not going to schedule my week around a game to ensure a guild will let me get a chance at a drop (I dislike many MMOās for that hard requirement), but Orbus is extremely social and just by hanging about at public events, or popping into the dungeon finder or PvP you have many opportunities to bump into others and toss out or be tossed invites to run content or join friends.
Iām not in a guild, I soloād to 30 (easily⦠I have yet to even see some zones), I still havenāt played through the lore quest line, which I fully intend to do, and Iāve done some shard level content with people that needed an extra and expect Iāll pop into a few raids here and there when a slot needs filling based on the friendships Iāve made.
Also⦠the game IS rough around the edges. While many high level players (not necessarily juts legacy players) will walk out of dungeons if they donāt feel theyāre in an elite group (this is a MAJOR pain point for many, and really needs addressing), or ignore you because theyāre on discord, MANY are (and always did in orbus) taking time to help newer players understand things that arenāt obvious, pointing out class features, bolstering lower level groups so they can finish a quest or dungeon theyāre tasked with and feel blocked on etc.
This is a concern for sure, but I also think thereās issues the other way as well. There should be a minimum level to join a dungeon (probably 8) via dungeon queue, so people have time to learn their classes. I know some people who have joined and had a group filled with fresh newbies all at 1-3 who didnāt know how to play their classes even enough to attempt the dungeon, let alone succeed at it.
Fair point and I agree, but I always like to give it the old college try before suggesting we bail. LOL, and with level scaling and the speed of levelling Iād like some other system of measuring readiness based on some sort of skill test (which would make a great quest line). Thatād be a lot of fun⦠like a ācan you run the gauntlet, avoid the smash, hit the target?ā ok⦠Dungeon 1 unlocked!
Omfg this would be great!
